I'm not talking about RPG's here cause that's plenty. I'm talking about RPG's that have tactics in them like Fire Emblem and Shining Force.....so like I haven't noticed much of games that are in this genre except Fire Emblem. So I'm worried if this genre is dying. True we have Valkyria Chronicles and of course S.T.E.A.M but that's few and far between and its no where as large as RPG's are.
Well Disgaea 5 just bombed hard. I'm somewhat expecting the next announced SMT game to be Devil Survivor 3 though.
Also, Valkyria Chronicles did pretty well with its recent Steam release. Few hundred thousand sold, if I remember right. Should be a few million, since it's one of the best games ever made, but not bad.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
IMO when you cite a very major release (in S.T.E.A.M) it doesn't follow that the genre is dead or dying.
Unless you mean to suggest that as the last game in some great lineage, but it would have been unlikely to release had the publisher such little faith in the future success of that genre. Let's wait and see!
I'm pretty sure that they are bigger than ever. Examples:
Fire Emblem Awakening
Fire Emblem If...
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Overclocked Record Breaker
Project X Zone
Project X Zone 2
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Valkyria Chronicles II
Pokémon Conquest
Wasteland 2
XCOM Enemy Unknown
Shadowrun Returns
The Banner Saga
I'm probably missing some, but still.

Oh saw that this was an Artwark thread so I was looking for @the_shpydar, guess he's not here yet.
Yeah, only saw this thread just now.
But to be fair, while i think the topic question is ridiculous (the answer is a definitive "no" - just because a genre is not as prolific or popular as another does not mean it's dying), at least this is a topic that involves some degree of valid discussion.
So @Artwark is spared a visit from The Zoidberg in this thread ... for now.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
I just wish there were more TRPGs in the vein of the original Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre. Especially if Yasumi Matsuno is helming the project.

...Crimson Shroud was such a big tease.
Nintendo should give Matsuno like a billion dollars to make a console game. He can bring his old boys Yoshida and Minagawa too.
