I agree. It also depends on what you call an "angry fanboy". It doesn't matter whether you like Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony the most. Someone somewhere will you call you fanboy for having criticism, an opinion that doesn't meet theirs, or a differing perspective. That's why it's better not to draw attention to this "fanboyism" concept, at all.

If you call someone a fanboy, you're a fanboy. Deal with it.

There is a very fine line between an angry fanboy and a consumer standing up for his / her rights. For the asking price of games these days, you can except a certain quality, that means:

  • The game should be able to run properly. If not, it should be fixed emediatly or offer refunds. I know of no other business that can sell broken products and getting away with it.
  • With PC games, the system requirements table should be acurate and detailed. A "maybe it could run" answer should not be sufficant.
  • Certain Ports shouldnt be allowed to be purposly cut down on certain systems but still cost the same money. Things like that make it obvious that your are actually NOT paying for the product itself but rather for the greedy company behind it.
  • The bullet points given out by the developer / publisher should be acurate, I cant think of any other business that can lie about the informations on the packaging / info material and get away with it.

And i could go on if i wanted to. These are cases that hav enothing to do with "blindly raging fanboys" but rather with consumers that speak up about thinks they felt where unfair and or misleading.
If on the other hand, you are not ok with certain content of a game, say, the ending, well, thats your opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
Mass Effect 3s ending though, is a borderline example. It slightly falls under the "fals bullet points claim" in that they explicitly said that the gameplay decisions would shape the trilogys ending. The truth was, that nothing of it actually mattered, and that the ending was basicly dependent on what door you would choose.
You can argue about it day and night, fact is, that it felt wrong for the consumer.

But like @SCAR392 said, if youre calling someone a fanboy, you are notthing more than one. Where is the problem in liking one developer / company over another ? Coca Cola and Papsi, Star Wars and Star Trek, Mario and Sonic. Its a thing older than the internet itself really.
If i dont like what, say, microsoft is doing but am defending nintendos decisions, im not a fanboy, im simply a fan. As long as i have facts underlining my arguments and im not a blind follower for the sake of being one, im just a fan. Nothing more, nothing less.

I hate the term fanboy. It's such a demeaning term. And a lot of people throw it around as though they aren't exactly what they're tearing into someone else about.

But that's the internet, I suppose. It's not supposed to be a place you can go to to have meaningful discussions anymore. It's full of name callers and slanderers claiming their name calling and slandering is a valid argument.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

@kyuubikid213 The funniest part is, when these people start to claim that it falls under "free speach"without having the slightest clue what free speach actualy means. The internet culture has degradet to a bunch of whiny, overly angry name callers, all under the cover of anonymity.
You can see it on the news comment section almost every day.

Doesn't really matter what he did the end result is will never have to work again.

Who knows whether it helped or hindered him but if he has sold a million copies it didn't do him much harm.
