Just curious if anybody here owns a Japanese PS2. I went to a local thrift store today and checked out the used games like always, and to my surprise there were a couple of Japanese PS2 games: Pop N Music 8 and some Beatmania game. Why would anybody go to the trouble of importing these games just to give them to a thrift store? Gotta be an interesting story to this. Anyways, I want ahead and bought them. I am probably gonna put them up on Ebay since I have no use for them, but I thought I would see if anybody here would like them first. I can put some pictures up if anybody is interested, the games are in great condition.
The person who imported the games may not have realised that the PS2 is region locked, and gave the games to thrift store since they didn't work?
I have an Asian region PS2 (NTSC-U/C), modded so I can play games from any region. If you can mod your PS2, it's totally worth it. I've got a number of EU PAL games (some exclusive to the EU region, and others with improvements over their NTSC releases) that I bought during the time I was in the UK, as well as a fair number of NTSC-J games (like KOF 2002UM and DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou), and I'm really glad I can play all of my games on the one PS2.

it seems even more foolish to buy them even thouhg you have no use for them

For what I paid for them, I think any of you guys would have bought them lol. I'm in a dilemma though. On the one hand I could keep them for the sheer fact that it's kinda cool to have some Japanese games in my collection, and I could mod my PS2 to be able to play them. Or, I could sell them and probably make 4 or 5 times what I paid for them. Decisions decisions...
