@banacheck Hum... Sounds great for Ubisoft. Supportive at launch as always. But you won't see me trusting until I see Rayman Legends going "next-gen."

reports from retailers

You do know retailers sell consoles, right?

Battlefield 4 is currently the most pre-ordered PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game. It’s outselling its main rival, Call of Duty Ghosts.

Oh my, What about BF4 Pre-Orders EA? You know the one that is outselling COD.

@banacheck So we're geniunely having a haters' conversation, are we? That's cool, that's cool. Let's put it this way: I'll enjoy my CoD Ghosts on my Wii U, financing Activision's FPS monopoly on my platform, while you'll be here buying your PS4 at launch and enjoying your next-gen Battlefield 4. While I'll be playing my Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost World and other Wii U exclusives among with a few multiplats, you'll be on your lauch-day PS4 enjoying your upscaled third-party games and the odd first-parties. And everybody's happy.

No, i think your taking me the wrong way, you'll be surprised if you read some of my other posts.

But you won't see me trusting until I see Rayman Legends going "next-gen."

And i totally agree with you on this, tho.

& by the way The Wonderful 101 is going to be an excellent game, as it's made by PG's so i''ll be picking it up for sure.

Here is the thing: given the inflated costs of production for next-gen videogames, who in here could be dumb enough to believe third-parties will manage to make a profit on next-gen games on the Xbox One and the PS4 alone?

Exactly what I've said all along. You can't keep relying on two systems to keep you afloat forever. You are only shooting yourself in the foot.

And this comes before consumers eventually realize they are paying premium prices for console boxes that are essentially gated PCs with added internet fees, and then everyone's minds will simultaneously explode from the enlightenment.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find any PC with GDDR5 plugged directly into the motherboard rather than sitting on the graphics card. lol, never mind CPU/GPU configuration, what Sony has done with the PS4 is something that PC builders simply cannot do. And this is before you go into depth, with what the PS4 does, which a PC simply cannot do. So yes people brains can explode from enlightenment, knowing a PC simply cannot do what a PS4 does.

Overall they haven't shown anything that impressive and it looks so much worse than Killzone and Battlefield.

The new COD Ghosts still uses a very old engine, over ten years old to be precise with a few updates, far from next-gen.

I agree w/ everything but the last part. At the Xbox One reveal, I recall Activision mentioning a new engine for CoD Ghosts. Second, am I one of the few people who are actually a bit interested in Ghosts that isn't a CoD fanboy. I might not get it, but it does look promising.

Smartglass, Vita crossplay, companion-app... You might to watch Sony and Microsoft's E3 presentation again.

After the Wii U launch. I'd call that catching up. Nothing bad about doing that, it's nice to see competition, but Wii U is the 1st console I've heard of letting you play on something other than the TV. Also, my brother has used smartglass & it's more like a controller. You can't play games w/ it.

PS4 is doomed.
Xbox One will kick the bucket.
Wii U will buy the farm.
PC will bite the dust.
3DS is pushin' up daisies.
Vita is six-feet under.

Everything videogame & videogame-related - past & present - will die.

Die, die, die.

Dead, dead, dead.

Kablooey. Kablammo. Nuclear explosion.

Corpses of developers everywhere.

Iwata, Miyamoto & Reggie sitting around a campfire whilst sharing an irradiated can of beans. They sing songs & chuckle about the good old days - when Nintendo was still going strong, and people played their games.

"Why did it all have to end?!" Shigeru wails as he kicks-away a three-headed frog, "I thought millions loved our games?"

Iwata shakes his head solemnly as he inches closer to the small fire, "Sony and Microsoft foolishly thought the same thing... but they were wrong. WE were wrong! All of us!"

Reggie nods sagely, before crushing the empty can between his pecs.

Shigeru grimaces, before facing his former boss. "I refuse to believe it. The games industry was making billions! More people played consoles than ever before! How did this happen..."

With a glint of anger in his eyes, Iwata stands and thrusts a finger in the air. "It was the internet, Miyamoto-san! The INTERNET said we were all doomed... Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft... even Ouya!!! It did not matter how much money we made, or how many customers loved our products... the cold clutch of fate was unavoidable!"

Shigeru was still skeptical of Satoru's reasoning. "But we were rich! We were ALL rich!!! Every Wednesday, Kaz and I would bathe in salmon-eggs, whilst independent developers would fight to the death for our amusement!"

"And now Kaz Hirai is dead." Iwata concluded solemnly. "Sony crumbled - despite the hype for the Playstation 4 and smart company-restructuring. Mark Cerny was the false prophet that led to death and destruction. For it was predicted by the wise-ones on Gamefaqs."

"Aye, 'tis true," Reggie grunted as he peformed various manly poses, "despite the intestinal fortitude of the noble knights of Sony... it was not enough. But at least the shuffled off this mortal coil with dignity - by cancelling Knack."

Shigeru was still incredulous. "Sure, Sony had some financial issues... but what about Microsoft? Even after decades of providing poorly-designed producs, they were still grossly wealthy!"

Iwata's mop of black hair wafted to-and-fro as he shook his head. "Which is precisely why they died. They had too much money. The hubris of Microsoft led to their downfall. They were foolish in deciding that the Xbox One should push the boundries of cross-media - by providing a new experience that aimed to differentiate itself from the PS4."

"Those foolish cut-purses." Reggie spat.

Shigeru stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Well, I guess the Zune, Windows 8, Windows Phone, Smartglass, and Surface did not help matters," he conceded, "but what about us? Nintendo? What did WE ever do to warrant such an awful fate?"

With sly, sympathetic smile, Iwata places a comforting palm on his friend's shoulder.

"My dear Shigeru... we were the biggest sinners of them all."

Shigeru, his eyes teary, looked pleadingly. "But... why? How?"

Suddenly, and with shocking force, Iwata slaps Shigeru Miyamoto to the dirty ground.

"Because you made Wii Music, you dumb poopoodoodiehead!!"

Reggie chuckles with a slight hint of insanity. "Yes... yes. It was because of your obsession of 'expanding' our audience... of catering to the... the..."

Reggie choked, as if the very word caused him intense pain.

"... casuals", he finished, before vomiting into the fire.

"Yes", Iwata hissed, "'casuals'. They infected us with their dirty money, and caused us to stop making totally awesome Mario, Zelda and Metroid games!!!"

Horrified, Shigeru rubbed his cheek. "But... but we still made those games!"

Iwata laughed bitterly. "Yes, but they were on Wii. They didn't count."

"And besides..." Shigeru continued, "Nintendo has ALWAYS been about reaching out to the widest possible audience! Ever since that fateful day in1889, when Fusajiro Yamauchi created the first batch of hanafuda..."

Iwata laughed some more, as if his point was proven. "Yes! And NOW where is he? He's dead!!!"

"But that doesn't even..."

"Enough!" Iwata thundered. "Shigeru Miyamoto, YOU were the one who killed Nintendo! Paper Mario 3DS was the last straw!!! Gameplay over story?! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!?!?!"

....

...

The following was a true story. Or will be, according to those delightful chaps over at the internet. Thank you and good night.

Vita cross play is a sequel to PSP remote play
Smartglass was first shown in 2009 as a concept for kinect. The fist commercial use was in 2010 as a Way to interact with Halo Reach.

So again.

Probably the only real benefit I've seen from the Wii U is Miiverse.

And why all of a sudden we see those ways to play "bloom" right after the reveal of the Wii U? It's not even use arguing the evident, at least please not on a Nintendo-themed website.

Most likely tech limits. The current 360 can use smartglass but the device wasn't built for it Nativly. Plus this allows Microsoft to push its other products, its more to the point were seeing what these guys always wanted to do its just Nintendo revealed their hand and released first.

I mean if were being honest the only reason why Nintendo has such a top heavy holiday season this year is because well they blew the rest of this year. Also doesn't help that unlike Nintendo the other guys have other systems to support as well.

Nintendo
The Wonderful 101
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Wii Party U
Donkey Kong County Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Sonic Lost World
Wii Fit U

Sony
Knack
Drive Club
Killzone: Shadowfall
Beyond: Two Souls
Gran Turismo 6
Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom
Puppeteer
Until Dawn
Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus
Rain

Microsoft
Dead Rising 3
Forza Motorsport 5
Killer Instinct
LocoCycle
Minecraft: Xbox One Edition
Ryse: Son of Rome
Zoo Tycoon
Fable Anniversary
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
Ascend: Hand of Kul
Super Time Force
World Series of Poker

If anything it makes Nintendo's line up look worse. (well you can really only blame third parties)

I'm taking worse quality wise. I'm mostly talking from a diversity standpoint (Nintendo's line up has too many games that are similar in type to each other), as well as the fact that Nintendo is only supporting two consoles and to be honest their output is poor to say the least.

@Sony_70

Its incredibly bias to say Nintendo have too many games similar in type when most of the games announced on all sides for the end of the year are sequels. You also don't know what the "quality" of the others is. For all you know most will be rushed to launch. You also fail to note that supporting PS4 and XBO is making them lack releases on current systems.

Nintendo's releases this year have been
Monster Hunter (RPG)
Lego City (open world)
New Super Luigi (platformer)
Pikmin 3 (nothing like this on anything else)

Then they have the games you listed coming up. Mario 3D world is a different concept to New Mario and the only reason Donkey compares is because both are 2.5D platformers. So yes, Nintendo definitely aren't lacking variety.

You can't convince a Nintendo fan with that. The out put is great, that's in average more than one first-party retail game per month on the Wii U, and probably the same thing on the 3DS. I would actually be surprised to see any of these games on PS4 and Xbox One defeat Wind Waker HD in terms of quality and content, and that's a ten-year-old game.

These are the games with which Nintendo is sure to appeal to famiies this holiday season and I think that's a great strategy. I don't see any launch game on PS4 and Xbox One that could drive a middle-class child to convince his/her parents to put 400+ on a platform for which they'll also need to pay for online and for a game. However, with the return of known Nintendo franchises, the Wii U this holiday season is set to be the better place for parents to go to.

Most of us started our gaming journeys by having our parents buy our consoles as children; topped with the prices of the next generation, that's a ground on which Nintendo cannot be defeated.

At the Xbox One reveal, I recall Activision mentioning a new engine for CoD Ghosts.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts was announced as a brand new next-gen Call Of Duty and - alongside that - a new next-gen engine to go with it.

But when Call Of Duty: Ghosts gameplay was revealed during Microsoft's Xbox One reveal event many gamers were underwhelmed by its 'next-gen' visuals.

Most developers create new engines alongside new hardware, but it seems Infinity Ward has - instead - simply updated the current-gen engine for the next Call Of Duty.

It might sound like we're undoing Infinity Ward's hard work, but the Call Of Duty franchise has become notorious for its minimal graphical improvements over the years.

It's ashame thay could not use a new engine, built from the ground up, but as IW makes COD in 2 year cycles. It would be impossible for them to do that, especially in that amount of time.

I don't think they really need a new a engine. They've got one already, old as it is, that's scalable to multiple platforms, easy to programme for and offers the players some of the tightest FPS mechanics available on consoles.

I find it funny that people on these forums are singled out and attacked for supporting Nintendo. This is a Nintendo forum. It naturally attracts people who enjoy and support Nintendo and its products. It's a "fan" site, of sorts. If you are going to be frustrated by bias towards Nintendo, this is NOT the forum for you. Don't come here - you're basically raising your blood pressure by your own volition. If you want a more neutral POV on the gaming industry, I don't think anyone in a sane state of mind would recommend taking part in any web sites quite clearly dedicated to one company or another. There are plenty of sites out there that cover all systems and, theoretically, have a reader base that is much more general.

If you choose to stick around, please don't accuse anyone here of "fanboyism" or being biased - that's a forgone conclusion. It's like going to a model train show and accusing those within of perhaps enjoying model trains a bit too much - know your surroundings. In relation to the topic of this post, news like this is a bit of vindication for some Nintendo fans and so they are allowed to be happy about it and discuss it.
