@Tech,I think you can have 8 people racing at a time. I'm not sure if you and your friends can race against other people online, I think you can only race against your friends. I'll be on in around in 3 hours or so and I'm pretty sure Gameday will be down for some Mario Kart.
You can have another person play splitscreen with you too while online. Maybe get your wife or kids on for some games.

I'm game.

Edit: I have played online before but never against friends I'm really not sure how it works, I know when you play randoms you can have up to 12 people.

I have my brother over so that is 2 at my household and earlier Gameday and his brother were online so that would be 4 right there. Does an hour sound good for everyone? I might be on a little earlier to get some practice runs in.
