Tm addicted here! Well, I'm not a pro.. i have TM United and played a lot, I'm in an Italian Team and have TM Wii! Even if it has some minor issues (it's impossible to share tracks with anyone and I got some connection problems online), it's a great racing game IMHO and a must have for TM fans! I'll add my FC to my signature, feel free to add me if you wish! I'm up for some racing!
I haven't got it yet. Not got the money yet for it!

Well, think of a puzzle-racing game.. there are 6 enviroments - it means there 6 cars with different handling - and you race in every track against the clock (time attack) trying to gain medals (single player) or defeat opponents (multiplayer). The particularity is that the tracks aren't simple circuits: they usually don't follow physics' rules, and you drive through incredible jumps, loops, you can wallride, etc.. it's very difficult to explain in words, and some players could not like the game's structure. The game itself is very good, and IMHO great for any TM fan; if you are unsure i suggest you to try Trackmania Nations Forever, which is totally free on the PC and it features one of the various enviroment (Stadium).. TM Wii is an expanded version of TM Nations (sort of)!
Both: there are multiplayer races with up to 6 players at once, and the player with the best time wins (of course XD). At the end of every game, Ladder Points are awarded based on the number of opponents and your position in the race. The online scoreboard shows the players with most LPs, wins, losses, etc. There's also another scoreboard: everytime you're connected to the WFC, the game asks you to upload times and ghost, to form the Track Rankings (don't know if it's the english name): for every track played offline the game forms a scoreboard, and you can download the ghost of the best players to challenge (and trying to beat it) offline.
Well, haven't tried CC yet, i used Wiimote only (like Mario Kart) and the Wiichuck combo, which is better IMHO. Online there aren't hackers (yet), at least i never encountered them. And enviroment is TM definition.. it's not 6 tracks! Think about six different styles of driving, 6 different cars and 6 different.. "stages".. the track are built using blocks, like toy car games to make a comparison.. so you can build and drive an unlimited amount of tracks, and this is the core of TM (building your tracks and sharing to other people)! So if you like playing time attack and tech-arcade driving, and don't mind not having collisions, the game will probably never get repetitive! I'm about 200 hours in TM pc, without considering Wii and DS iterations, and still i play a little every day!
