A Mario Kart Grand Prix consisting of remakes of DS Airship Fortress and GCN Bowser's Castle. Hopefully you're familiar with the tracks before you play this level.

I forgot to mention: can you find the secret remaster of Mario Kart 8's Mute City?

I hope I am not too late. This is my course for the competition.
Please read the course description before trying the course in order to better understand the theme and concept.
I know must people does not like the more difficult courses (usually rage quit early) but I feel it would lose the spirit and the theme if it got any easier. It is a fair course and a good challenge with a unique and fun mechanism that I made up. Give it a try and tell me what you think.
And one last thing, this and all my courses are not cryptic, nor do they contain tricks or cheap deaths
PS: I honestly don't find it tough at all, but very manageable.

I really liked @MasterWario's idea of "No Enemies", so that is the new level theme! The idea here is to not use any enemies in a level you make or, at the very least, make enemies that don't pose a threat / aren't used in conventional ways. I'll leave that bit up to you! Good luck everyone! I think we'll only do one more week after this where we post themes immediately after one has ended, so there may start being one gap weeks between themes soon.

Blue_Blur

@iBazly: I know it's a typo, but on your most recent post, you put Blue_Blue next to my level instead of Blue_Blur. Could you change it to say Blue_Blur so no one is confused that it's my level. Thanks!

If anyone wants a hint to find Mute City in my stage, Mario Kart GP (track remakes) (2736-0000-0072-F1A7), try using the cannons above the flame burners to get up high...

@iBazly Do spike walls count as enemies? The spike things that don't move and you can't run through taking a hit.

Why? It isn't so hard to come up with good themes is it?

MasterWario

What I was thinking for no enemies, was anything that can downsize Mario. So spikes would count as enemies, but lava and pits wouldn't. Although I guess a Koopa Shell could downsize Mario, but it clearly isn't an enemy...

I think that, once again, it comes down to your interpretation, but I certainly won't use spikes or Koopa Shells.

@SuperWiiU I think it's time more than anything else. We all just got the game so we're playing a lot, but as time goes on if the contest go too quickly people will just drop out because there's too much pressure to keep up. Something like that anyways. But if you're out of themes, ho ho I can come up with a million of em'. I'd like to think I could anyway.

Sure, but instead of gap week, wouldn't a 2-week run for a theme be better?

I've played & finished all costume fun entries. It's even closer this week, lots of great levels. Gonna have to think it over some more before I make my choice.

eXtremeHippo

The level I was going to enter uses spikes and grinders. The game counts grinders as enemies but not spikes. I would consider grinders more of an obstacle than an enemy however. I'll have to think about whether to enter it or not.

I noticed some people just try my course and rage quit, based on false assumptions.

The theme of the course is that you are playing with a weak and stupid hero (Sidestepper), being in dire and tough circumstances. This is the whole point of the theme, these are not death traps, you are supposed to be in these situations.

The course is very fair and been tested dozen of times by multiple of middle aged gamer (my friends. I am getting really old lol) and we all managed to clear the whole course without getting a hit! Despite that, the course is very forgiving with over 5 mushrooms! in every 5-10 second long section you get a mushroom in between!!

You got 1 hit with invisibility frames in your side, and dozen of mushrooms in the course, and each of the five segments only take few seconds to clear, any gamer can tell it is very doable. it is really unfair to rage quit and disregard the course in such a manner.

Please do not star my course or even vote for it but for the very lest give it a fair chance. It really sadden me when I see young players try the course and just rage quite and assume it is the designer fault not their lake of patience or tolerance.

Or probably it was my mistake for making a "hard" course, despite being fair and innovative, these type of courses are never welcomed in today's generation. Mario Maker is bound to turn in to another Little Big Planet, just a thematic story driven courses, even story-less platform genre isn't saved with now a days trend.

A good example is Platinum games, despite creating excellent games, top quality that are highly regarded by gamers and developers a like, yet all their games sell poorly. Even Nintendo acknowledge their skills and excellent work and ask them to help in making their very own major games like what happened with Starfox Zero!

You and your friends must be great gamers, because it took me quite a number of attempts before I managed to clear the course and I still got hit twice I think. Though I agree the course is fair, it can still punch you in the face, especially in the ball and chain enemies and the hammer bros. sections(the sections don't take 5-10 seconds by the way, most take at least 20). My own course was only finished by one of the contestants here too so far, not everyone here is an advanced player and the harder courses might just be too much for them. I don't mind people not liking or finishing my course because of that, but it is sad though to see some people quit after just 1-2 tries. You can't really judge or experience a course in so few attempts.

@SuperWiiU, yeah I totally agree. I can relate to that, my course has a boss fight in the end, with unique mechanism to defeat that fits the theme, but most wouldn't bother to reach it.

By the way the P switch only takes around 10 seconds, but I know it does feel way longer in my course for obvious reasons . lol
I guess it is probably 15 second for each section for must players. With a mushroom and invisibility frames, that's quit short don't you agree?

In another note, I beat your course too so that at lest two persons

Moreover, thanks everyone for the comments in miiverse, but I had to delete them because I received some feedbacks that the comments are distracting the players. Please understand. I do appreciate everyone comments, regardless. cheers

@GAMEBOYPOCKET: Umm, the next time someone complains that Miiverse comments are distracting, you might wanna point out that they can be disabled in the pause menu.

I didn't beat your level, but I'll try it again later. I've only got so much time during the week, though.

I'd be interested to see what you think of some of my creations, particularly this one, which has a very low clear rate.

I have to add here: Everybody can hide the comments by simply choose the option near the "Notification"-Button. I really love comments in courses but the popular ones wouldn't be playable without turning them off.

No enemy challenge entry. Do you think you can jump?

@GAMEBOYPOCKET:
There are some sections I have problem with.

First, magikoopas.
You shouldn't make player's progress dependant on magikoopas. It's luck not skill.
What if player manages to kill all the magikoopas before they make hole.

Blind jumps to unknown are never good game design. When I was in chain chomp part. I didn't know that I am walking to trap. If I would have seen coin from point where p-switch is, it would have been more fair.

And that's how far I played. I could download level and see the rest of the level.
Miiverse allows only short posts from in game. I could have explained more.

I do have levels that people have found hard. One of my latest levels have only
0,74 percent clear rate. 1/140 attempts have been successful.

EDIT: I downloaded the level. Bowser fight was well done and creative, but there were
some "blind jump traps" before that.
