you save before he gives you the eggs. Once you have the eggs, those are set stats and can't hatch any other way. Even when you soft reset the very next one is sort of set.

@pyrotechnic Thanks for the tip, I may need another one anyway. @jm29 When I start shiny breeding, I save when the Day Care Man is looking at me. I then create the five eggs, and hatch them. If none of them are shiny, I soft reset. From here on, everytime I soft reset I refuse the first egg that the Day Care Man offers me, then collect the next five. I do this because even when the first egg is being made and has not been accepted yet, all of its stats are predetermined. I use my shiny Talonflame with Flame Body, and Hatching O-Power Level 3. With all this, at least with quick hatchers like the starters, it takes me about five minutes from soft reset to soft reset, which is about an egg hatched every minute.
