Anyone here play it or considering to play it? It recently went free-to-play, so no subscription fees!

I'm currently downloading it. Hope it's good!

Yeah, I was thinking of trying it. It looks promising and I haven't got my MMO on in a long time.

Finally finished installing, haven't played yet. If you decide to download this, you should have lots of patience @_@

HolyMackerel

Well I'm installing it now. It's estimated that it will take over 12 hours. It's because it's downloading the files from the internet while installing.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

HolyMackerel

Where does it say a GB? The installer is a 1.8 MB file. However, the installer then downloads and installs the game itself - it says there are 7,087 MB worth of files to download which is about 7 GB.

I played LOTRO from beta untill this last spring right before they went f2p. Personally I am a big LOTRO fan and the game is done really well, the graphics are nice and the music makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the Shire. My only problem with the game is we all know how its going to end. Really for me there wasnt any surprises so to speak everything that I did just felt empty and hollow since I know the storyline. The whole time it just felt that whatever you did was just eclipsed by the Fellowship.

The other problem I had with it was that it wasnt to solo friendly. It seemed that to get anywhere after level 30 you had to be in a group even for the simplest quest. I truthfully dont know if that changed with them going f2p, but thats how it seemed to me when I played.

If you have never played it and are looking for something free so to speak than yeah its worth it but since I have played it for so long it just seems stale to me.

Why does this sound like a World of Warcraft copy? :

A Lord of the Rings MMO just sounds very samey and too much of a copy of WoW in my honest opinion... just without the whole payment thing.

But I might download this as soon as I can get a new computer for myself since its f2p.

Because every WoW player calls other mmorpgs a WoW copy

The official spec page says that this takes up about 10 GB, and took me like 3-4 hours to download/install/update last night.

@irken Lucky, my download's still going and it's just about at 50%. Funnily enough, it still says there's 10 hours remaining from the original 12 lol.

I most certainly do not.

@Irken: Yep that sounds about right.

My son tried to play the game about a week ago and after installing and such he went to make his character and for some strange reason he couldnt select his race. He could select his class but not his race. Any of you guys have that problem?

Made my character, named Irken, he is a Man from Rohan, using the Champion class. Haven't played online yet, but I will eventually

Haven't even made it that far! Unless you mean the "world" thing that you choose before making a character, in which case I chose Crickhollow
