1) Never be above it
2) Mind its tail
3) Swim as far away as possible when its charging up its flash attack
4) He goes to room 8 when he needs to rest/sleep

Other than that just bang it around with a fire sword. A Longsword with fire element is the best in my opinion...

I slayed the Qurupeco today. Quite an easy battle, even when giving Machu instructions to attack him with fire...
