@NEStalgia I can't get the timing on shield deflection down. I don't think I've pulled it off once!

@NEStalgia Thanks much, that's exactly what I was doing, just combining monster parts

@Ralizah surprisingly I have mastered this I am destroying every guardian with easy , 4 hearts and no armor , I found an area with about 5 or 6 of those big guardians and I was laying them all out

The key to getting the timing down is being comfortable with your distance. With me, I always like to deflect shots at close range. It's where I have practiced my timing. Be sure to hit the A button as soon at it shoots. It glows first, so that's the indication to get ready to hit that A button. If you deflect in the wrong direction and break your shield, then you were a little too late. Try again and press it a split second sooner. It takes time and it took many many hours of practicing.

@Ralizah LOL, I can't get flurry, you can't get deflection. There is some awesome rhythm here, lets start a band!

@ValhallaOutcast That is pretty much how I made money in the early game in addition to bombing every geode I could find. Guardians see me and go...crap, run, shoot, hide! Talus farming is good too.

@Ryu_Niiyama Ya I still have to learn what in my inventory is for crafting and what I should just sell

Laser deflection took me a long time, too. I read somewhere that when you're REALLY close you should hit the deflect button as soon as you see the Guardian's "eye" light up. And - it works! So I always try to fight them pretty close to use that trick.

@ValhallaOutcast
Well, the tough thing is that pretty much everything in your inventory can be used for... everything lol In the early game, it's tempting to sell the gems, for example, but then later down the line you find out they can be useful for, er.... other things lol

Same goes with monster parts. And insects. And pretty much every plant.

So it's not really "what" you can sell, but finding a balance between selling to get money for certain quests/goals and conserving for cooking and other materials-related things.

@rallydefault thanks that makes sense since everything seems to have multiple purposes

@ValhallaOutcast I feel made the mistake of being too precious about my gems in the early game? And refused to sell any of them. Obviously, they have some usage later in the game, but they also become quite a bit more easily obtainable too. If you're worried, maybe sell a certain percentage of your gems so you always have some in reserve. But they're one of the best sources of early game cash, and it's not like you need to spend your entire game stockpiling them in order to enough to use them later. And even then, the uses aren't super important or necessary to the plot or anything. So less a few, hold a few back, and enjoy the money. Also, cooked food is a pretty good source of cash. If you've got something that restores way more hearts than you have, flog it to a shop owner. You might be surprised what you get for it.

@Maxz thanks that makes sense, I'm cheap with my inventory in video games, you should see how tight I am with my in game currency for games like GTA lol

Bombs. Bombs. Bombs. Those go a long way. You just have to be patient as they don't do much damage. I cleared entire camps only with bombs. It might have taken like 50 bombs, but it's doable.
