@DefHalan No one wants to buy a 200 dollar console to play games a few months in advance when they're coming to a new, superior console that will have it's own game library on top of the ports.

@KirbyTheVampire there are very few Wii U games coming to the Switch, and in my opinion they aren't even the best games that are getting ports. The games with the longest legs maybe but not the best

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

My biggest fear is that third party support completely drops off again, and we're stuck in a situation where Nintendo has to carry the whole system by themselves again. Bonus points if somehow we still get droughts between games, even with the whole hybrid console setup.

I also fear that the library will have too many ports, with most of Nintendo's games being from Wii U and third party ones being from Xbox One/PlayStation 4. We need more new games, not rehashed versions of old ones.

But hey, both worries seem less likely than with the Wii U.

Worst nightmare! Hmm... well I have quite a few.

1. Not being able to access my WiiU digital library.
2.The kickstand easily breaks.
3. They impose a online subscription fee.
4. The device is defective.
5. No 4k, HDR support.
6. Not enough first party title's at launch.
7. The screen easily cracking if dropped on my tile floor.
8. No Netflix or other popular apps.
9. No achievement system.
10. 3rd party support drops
11. Not enough original exclusives.
12. To many rehashes.
13. Region Locked.
14. Laggy OS.
15. Terrible browser.
16. No mature exclusives.

I think it will be low specs again. Not being on par with the other consoles is not a problem for me as I am basically in it for the nintendo games and dont really care about third parties especially EA and Ubisoft are a no no for me. I would have stayed with the wii u for a couple more years if nintendo hadnt abandoned it. But if the wii u had taught a lesson its that nintendo games alone dont make a console successful and, shame on nintendo, worthy of further first party support. Cheaping out on the console specs and greedily wanting to make a profit on the hardware itself is where nintendos problem is nowadays. like I said I am not interested in specs but other people are. On the other hand higher specs wouldnt do me no harm and I might be willing to pay a little bit more. Chances are this going to be nintendos last console.
Consoles need exclusives, nintendo might deliver but will the others? Its not profitable to make exclusives and I doubt nintendo will pay a company like bethesda to make an exclusive elder scrolls or fallout. Right now its mostly about ports from the wii u or even last gen titles like skyrim. I mean skyrim was playable on the x360, how can such a game be convincing?
I am sure the switch will be more successful than the wii u but doubt that it will be successful in the long run. People who own a ps4 or xbone shouldnt be too tempted especially if they are into hardcore gaming. Nintendo fans will buy it. Families might jump on the bandwagon but not because of skyrim.
It will be successful in japan, though, which is dominated by handhelds.

@NintyFan Artificial stock shortages is what Nintendo does, however as you said this is not a toy or holiday gap filler retro device. This is the console Nintendo has been secretly working on for multiple years and for better or worse, has placed all their bets on keeping them in the hardware market for the next 5 years onwards. So I hope they don't deliberately underproduce, or at least to the point that's it becomes Wii scarce.

Didn't Nintendo say they have 3 production lines working on the Switch with one being dedicated to Japan?

I doubt they'll pull the same stunt with Switch. It is still possible for demand to outpace supply like with the Wii

Prepare for nightmares. Especially when you drop it on your tiled floor. Keep the joycons attached at all times, and you might have a chance...

Well, we already know the Switch is not a Kitchen appliance, so my worst nightmare has already been diverted.

The dock can serve as a toaster. Don't forget to turn off the toaster functionality before docking the switch!

@Whitewatermoose Rumor seems kinda bogus to me in hindsight. After all, we saw firsthand how the Switch handled Breath of the Wild on Jimmy Fallon. It ran consistently smoothly through the whole thing, and from the gameplay footage we've seen of the Wii U version, the Wii U was clearly being pushed to it's limits with that game. There were no obvious frame rate drops after it was taken out of the dock.

Todd Howard from Bethesda sounds super enthusiastic about the Switch, and even said that the demo was the best he's ever seen. Surely he saw the Switch being taken out of the dock, and if the game suddenly started chugging along painfully when he did, he wouldn't be saying that. This is the company that practically laughed at the Wii U. Now they're saying this:

“I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you — well, maybe that's an [non-disclosure agreement] thing. One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3. I think it's really smart what they're doing. We're definitely going to be supporting it. It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff. Home Alone. Or Where's Waldo?”

This should be taken a lot more seriously than yet another Switch rumor. Many devs sound very enthusiastic about this thing. Definitely a lot more than they were about the Wii U.

My worst nightmare is the Switch having a lousy battery life and it's inconvenient to charge.

As long as it has around 5Hrs and a USB-C port I think it will do just fine, as USB-C+Power bank=longer gaming times.

But yea, if its 3Hrs and a proprietary USB charging port then, yeah it might not fair too well with the masses. Same goes even if its 5Hrs with a proprietary USB charging port. Nintendo needs to ditch the proprietary charging format.

@KirbyTheVampire Well Nintendo always seems to be able to hide shortcomings of a console in their own games. If you were presented with MK8 running on a TV but didn't know anything about the Wii U you'd never guess the Wii U was a really underpowered system for example. When you get to the 3rd party developers though it's mostly very easy to notice.

Just had a what I guess you could call a "Bad dream" of the switch presentation. The price $450 Specs not specified.

The nightmare scenario would be Nintendo releasing a new handheld (that isn't compatible with the Switch) and drawing games away from the Switch. The merged development teams should mean fewer droughts and more games, but a handheld that is completely different (DS/3DS vs Wii/U) will continue the game droughts we saw with the Wii U.

Multiplatform 3rd party games will come if the user base is there. If Nintendo wants that user base, they need to embrace the hybrid nature of the system and put handheld and console games on the system. Don't develop a completely different handheld gaming device.

Price is the other issue. This is on 2 fronts. First, the actual price for consumers. They can't charge $350 for the system. I think $299 is probably the max they can get away with and that would probably depend on the launch lineup. Second, price, or rather cost, for developers to create games or port games. Keeping this cost low COULD give developers more confidence in porting or creating games for the system as it would take fewer purchases to recoup the development costs.

@YellowFighter Well rumours point to Nintendo porting over some of the most content rich Wii U games to this system, adding in the downloadable content for the games that had it as well as adding even more content on top of that content, because they heard how much you like your content, so they're adding content to the content so you can content while you content. And we'll (hopefully) be content with it

But seriously I assume you still are holding one heck of a grudge about the likes of those rubbish Mario Tennis and amiibo Animal Crossing games and I gotta say more power to ya for doing so. Most people forgot about them the day after the meltdowns happened at E3 2015.

But you do you and all that.

I just hope that Nintendo doesn't release games with little content like they did with some of their Wii U games.

I dunno, that worked out great for Battlefront. :V

And even Splatoon tbh (which is comparable to Battlefront's success by the standards of being a new IP on Wii U). Clearly Nintendo's problem is that they didn't charge money for that DLC. Then the Wii U sales would've doubled THAT VERY DAY. (some shareholders probably believe this)

I just want a nice, steady stream of 1st-party titles. I don't know what's feasible, because hey: I'm not a game developer or publisher. So, I don't know, is one every 3 or 4 months asking too much? Honestly not sure. But a steady flow of excellent first-party titles at a system's launch is pretty hard to ignore, even if you haven't been following Nintendo for awhile.

... on the other hand, PS4 had nearly nothing for what? Like 6 months? And look at how that turned out lol
