Topic: Xenosaga HD remaster on switch?

I don't know if I'm posting this on the right fourm topic. But yesterday, I saw a couple of videos claiming that there might be a Xenosaga trilogy HD remaster for the nintendo switch. Although these videos were months ago (April, May, June). Do you guys think it's true? I don't know much for the xeno games but I loved xenosaga since I was a kid. Could nintendo actually be releasing it this year? Or next year?

There's been no official word of it. But I certainly would like to see it happen. From the comments I have seen from Monolith employees however, they don't seem to like repeating themselves, so I don't know how open they'd be to remakes/remasters. Of course it's possible they'd hire another studio to do it, while they focused on new content.

But anyway, I've seen nothing beyond blind speculation.

@TaylourY It wouldn't be Nintendo releasing it. Xenosaga is Bandai Namco's IP. Most likely they'd be the one's publishing an HD remaster, unless they get Monolith to work on it.

I'd like to hope Nintendo, Bandai Namco, Square Enix and Monolith come up with some agreement for some kind of Switch exclusive Xeno collections for Gears and Saga. Both are often series I hear people talk about when bringing up Xenoblade so I would be curious to see what those games were like as I loved Xenoblade. XC 2 did sell nearly 1 and and half million copies worldwide so both could perform well enough. A Direct announcement of "Discover the origins of the Xeno series with the XenoGears and Saga Collections for Switch!" would be more than enough to tell XC fans of these games, as well as fill a void, since it sounds like Monolith are not currently working on the next Xenoblade game yet, along with a HD XC1 and port of XCX.

We're getting a zillion Final Fantasys soon and Namco helped with developing Smash Wii U/3DS, so both should be approachable for such Collections as well as provide even more JRPG goodness to a system thats becoming a haven for em. There is some money to be made.

With the execption of some easter eggs and references, and a pair of blades in XC2, as far as I know, the only connections Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade have is the suffix "Xeno"

@Heavyarms55 For direct connections, the ending implies a theory that connects Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade. It's not confirmed, but it may as well be.

But Xenoblade takes so many cues from Xenogears itself. For example, the entire endgame of Xenoblade 1 is Xenogears' endgame except simplified. Xenoblade X takes the Gears and makes them better while acting like some sort of weird "remake" of the beginning of the timeline of Xenogears and Xenosaga. Xenoblade 2's story also feels like Episode 4 of Xenogears but also cut back like Xenoblade 1. In addition, multiple characters in Xenoblade 1 and 2 are just like characters in Xenogears. Bart = Zeke, Deus = Zanza, Jin = Krelian, Amalthus = Grahf (sorta), Poppi = Emeralda, Pyra/Mythra = Fei, there's multiple examples there. It's pretty cool stuff when you've played all three Xenoblade games, then go back to Xenogears and see how Xenoblade takes the ideas Xenogears laid down and tells it in a different way.

Each Xeno game uses the same broad storyarc of discovering an object of great power, rise of humanity's conquest and outreach, then downfall of humanity via hubris, then rebirth of humanity, and the cycle repeats. In addition, there's always a revelation with the truth of the world, allowing the main protagonists to rise above to become greater than everyone else.

Even more reason to rerelease the games, I know nothing about that or the games in question and dunno if there is a cheap convenient way to play them, lol. XD

@Angelic_Lapras_King Xenosaga is hard to play without an emulator, but if you have a PS3 or Vita, you can play Xenogears legally for a cheap price of like $10.

Xenogears aged really badly and its story*telling* (different from actual story which is on paper better than nearly everything else) isn't that stellar even for PS1 standards, but the entire experience was so good it's right below Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as my favorite PS1 game.

@EvilLucario Only thing is we Europeans never got it on PS3's PS1 classics along with a lot of games (The Megaman games for example). Is it even possible to download games off the American digital store to a Euro PS3? Would strongly consider it.

I should be okay with its age. I was a teen when the N64/PS1 era came about so I'd be open to give it a go.

I always wonder who owns the publishing rights to Xenosaga. apparently it's Bandai Namco still and I always thought Nintendo own all of the Xeno games. and not just Xenoblade.

it would be pretty neat to see them remastered for Switch. for now i'll stick to getting a PS2 versions of them.

Never played them but would love to.

I'm getting a PS1 classic and I'll put Xenosaga on it.

Never owned a Sony console.

The impossible pipe dream is for Xenogears to be remade from the ground up in HD, including the second disc done as it was intended to be rather than the austerity version that was released. And a better script that doesn't require scouring the internet to understand.

I'd likely get Xenosaga ports though because I never played them, although I know they were crammed too at the end since it was supposed to be five games initially. I really liked XC and XC2 is on my to get list (though with SOTN/ROB, SSBU, and RDR2, it'll be a while).
