Yessssssssssss I was about to say this was one of the worst Directs ever, and then they go and announce one of my all time most wanted things.
By the way, for anyone who didn't notice, or just hasn't played the game. This last scene at the end is the Bionis Shoulder area that was cut out of the original game. So they're adding new content. That's awesome:

I would guess they thought that because XC2 sold really well, people will be more likely to buy the prequel/sequel rather than a game that's completely unconnected to it (as far as we know)
Easily the highlight of the direct for me, not that there was much to really compete with. For some reason, I thought that scene at the end was Outlook Park. Makes more sense why they ended the trailer on that now.
Remember when Nintendo wasn't going to release Xenoblade Chronicles in North America?
Now in 2019, Xenoblade Chronicles has a second port on the way, and 2 follow-up games that have already been released. One of those games sold over a million copies and had a significant DLC story released in 2018.
These are confusing times.
Now whether or not I'll get this game is a big what-if. Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii ate up about 200 hours of my time because I grinded a lot and got stuck. I have such a backlog of games on Switch and PS4 alone that this game has a lot to compete with. Add on top of that the $60 price tag. Maybe one day, maybe.

I can't wait to drop another 200 hours of my life into this game - it will be the 4th time I buy it! I #noregrets
This is my favorite JRPG of all time and depending on my mood, my favorite game of all time! Just hearing the music pop up on shuffle on my phone makes me want to play it again!

Don't get me wrong, XC1 is a great game and I'm always happy for more Xeno. I just haven't played X yet.
I'm looking forward to seeing the changes.
This. I'm not planning on double dipping on this one. I generally just don't do that, I'd rather spend money on new games. The ONLY time I've rebought a game, remaster, enhanced port, or otherwise was to play Tales of Vesperia with friends because I no longer had access to my dad's 360.
Man, between this and Link's Awakening, Nintendo is really making me want to break my "don't buy the same game twice at full price" thing.
Though if I'm being completely honest, I still think X needs a remake far more than the original. The original is a legit masterpiece barring a couple of dumb sidequest things, X is 80% a masterpiece and 20% a giant waste of time that needed changes badly (and maybe an actual conclusion).

Dude, I was there. I decided to support Operation Rainfall (on this very forum!) the day before Monado became the number 1 preordered game on Amazon and blew up on all the gaming sites. One of the craziest things I've ever seen in the gaming community, where the random poster on this forum was part of the most important thing happening in gaming for a brief moment in time.
For some reason, I thought that scene at the end was Outlook Park. Makes more sense why they ended the trailer on that now.
You definitely can't see Alcamoth from the behind the Bionis knee (where Colony 9 is).
The Bionis Shoulder was only shown in a flashback scene in the main game. So hackers went and found it on the game disc and were surprised to find that the entire area was pretty much finished, they just cut it from the final game apparently because they felt like the game was long enough and they already had enough grassy-looking areas.
The area looks incredible though so a lot of people found this annoying:
$60? Ouch. This should've been a $30 Switch port, $40 tops.

I don't think they announced a price. (but it almost definitely will be $60).
They've redone all of the character models and all of the environment textures. Plus a new massive area.
That's pretty damn good as remasters go. Easily worth $60.
Hell of a lot better than direct ports of Donkey Kong and New Super Mario U that sold for $60.
@iKhan Don't get me wrong, I'm going to buy it day one. Just haven't gotten to play X yet, and was more looking forward to that. Xenoblade 1 is a good game, but I honestly prefer 2 and the Saga trilogy to it.

also i should say, if anyone hasn't played this yet, please buy it. it is literally one of the best jrpgs ever made, dont let anyone tell you otherwise
Make no mistake, I'll be triple dipping. My love for the Xeno series knows no bounds. But I'm not cray cray enough to drop $60 on day one. $45 on marginal discount six months after launch? Maybe. $30 on deep discount a year later? Lock me in.
