Right now, we know all of Nintendo's biggest Switch games that are coming this year, with the exception of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. With how condensed the upcoming holiday season is for the Nintendo Switch, I can easily see XC2 get pushed for an early 2018 release. However, if Nintendo insists on getting it out in 2017, it's gonna have to be on December 22nd.
I see December 22nd, 2017 being the ideal release date for XC2 because Nintendo cares about spacing. Let's take this year, for example. Nintendo made sure to give at least 45 days between the release of each big first party game. Because of this, I doubt XC2 would see a November or early December release date. Furthermore, Nintendo doesn't just space between its triple A titles, but with third party's AAA games as well. This is why August ran dry for first party games as Mario + Rabbids occupied that slot. I think we will see the same happen with Skyrim and the month November. Besides, Nintendo won't want to put out any game that month since the Switch will be soaring higher than ever with the release of Mario Odyssey.
Spacing aside, December 22nd is ideal for XC2 because not only is it a few days before Christmas, but it's also the last Friday before Christmas. It's no secret that Nintendo loves releasing their big hits on Fridays. Mario Odyssey is coming out on October 27th, which happens to be a Friday. But that's no coincident; Nintendo has a history of releasing big games on Fridays. Look at Nintendo Switch's history for example: Splatoon 2 came out on a Friday (7/21); Arms came out on a Friday (6/16), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came out on a Friday (4/28); and of course Breath of the Wild as well as the Nintendo Switch itself launched on a Friday (3/3) It would only be fitting to end the first year of the Nintendo Switch with a big release on a big Friday as well.

With Splatoon 2 released, X2 is my most anticipated game, yes even moreso than Mario Odyssey, of the year so I'd be really bummed out if they pushed it back to 2018. December 22nd would annoy me as well since I hate Christmas shopping with hundreds and hundreds of smelly people so I'd rather download it, yes, download a frickin Xenoblade game, than go out there this close to Christmas.
Your arguments do sound .. well, sound, though. I'd like to point out that releasing it earlier into December would give people actually time and money to buy X2 since most will already have gifts/have spent all the cash they're willing to spend for gifts by then. Also, almost all games, that don't have worldwide release dates are released on fridays here in europe.
Why isn't this discussion in the Xenoblade 2 forum, though?
