Topic: Would you transfer all of your Wii U and 3DS VC games to one Switch console if possible?

Since it apparently doesn't support touch screen controls, Wii U and 3DS eshop games wouldn't be able to be transferred to the Switch but VC games could.

I would assume that if it did happen, you would have to pay to download the VC game again on the WII U and 3DS if you wanted to keep playing it there as well. That's how it happened with transferring games from one 3DS to another 3DS. Only here, it would be a system wide transfer of all your VC games, not your entire downloaded library.

And no, you should not have to pay again to upgrade a VC game like you did from Wii to Wii U. Every VC game should be available to play on Switch from day one after transferring.

How would say SMW, Earthbound and DKC games on Wii U and N3DS VC be transferred if you own a coy of each for both systems?

Rather than a "transfer" process, wouldn't it be smarter if it could just look at your eShop account and see you already own it. Then it becomes available on your Switch?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@Don You would recieve a discount for any game of your choice on the same system for as many duplicate games you own excluding the Ambassador games. You would only need to pay the 'upgrade fee' that you would pay when downloading a VC game you already downloaded on original Wii.

Depends on how many Wii U games would be ported to the Switch. Then I would have no need for my Wii U (and I would just sell it).

Yes I would. I also wouldn't have much of an issue with a small transfer fee either if that's the way they're going about it. And they charge around $1.50AU plus or minus depending on the system. It's like $2.30AU for N64 games and $1.30AU for NES games. Should it be free? Maybe. But it's actually not so bad a deal when you take into account the My Nintendo rewards.

Assuming they keep the thing where points are awarded based on the original cost rather than the discount? Pretty much all VC games are 10 gold coins in Australia at least Currently on My Nintendo there's Pilotwings on the SNES VC for 70 coins, Super Mario 64 was 90 coins. But do the maths.

7x NES games -> 70 coins for $9.10
9x NES games -> 90 coins for $11.70
7x N64 games -> 70 coins for $16.10
9x N64 games -> 90 coins for $20.70

Guess what the prices for those games are on the Wii U VC?
Pilotwings: $10.40AU
Super Mario 64: $13.00AU

Basically what Nintendo is doing here? In a roundabout way they're telling me to jump through some hoops and also buy a random VC title. In return they'll let me play the VC games I had on my old system on the new system. Is it a bit convoluted? Sure. But the end result is about the same to me as it would be if they just let me upgrade the games for free. So who cares?

Some more maths. This is how much I'd spending moving all my VC games across from the Wii U VC and 3DS VC. Excluding Wii, GBA and GBC VC releases. Also how many gold coins I'd get in return. Assuming that the Wii -> Wii U transfer fee applies and you get 10x Gold coins per game:

17x NES games
8x SNES games
5x N64 games

My Nintendo = 300 gold coins = 3x SNES rewards + 1x N64 reward ($44.20)
Cost to upgrade = 17x $1.30 + 8x $1.95 + 5x $2.30 = $49.20

Free? No. But when you take into account the My Nintendo Rewards it works out to be about ~16c/game. More if you have a greater proportion of N64 games, less if you have a greater proportion of NES games.

I wonder if they bring out snes vc titles like super mario world and all those who already own it either on wii u or 3ds or both have to pay another time if they want to play it on switch.☺
