You know what would be just as awesome, actually? Okamiden HD remake.
As one of the few people who both played and really appreciated Okamiden, I don't think that's a good idea necessarily? Mostly because it would need a big upgrade to not feel like "oh yeah this is a DS game awkwardly put on an HD console", if it's actually sold like an HD remake. Like it was clearly made with the DS in mind, and part of the charm is that they got an Okami game on a DS at all.
But they should re-release it in some way, since no one played it.
I think they will bring Okami HD to Switch, maybe even be a January Direct announcement. We've already seen Capcom regret their approach of not counting Switch so I think more ports in the near future seem reasonable.
I have never played Okami so if it comes to the Switch I will for sure pick it up, and with everything Capcom is bringing to the Switch recently I think it's more and more probable

I mean it obviously wouldn't be a straight port of the DS game, but remade to work with normal controls would be cool. Also something about the game made me lose interest, like...it just made me want to play the original Okami instead. :/

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I also played Okamiden (still own it, actually). While I did enjoy the game, I'm not sure that a HD remake would work out too well with that game unless there was a major overhaul.
If anything, this just makes me want a true Okami 2 even more.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I mean, it seems really likely given Capcom's statements as of late. And besides that, it would simply be a perfect fit for the Switch (as cliche as it is to say that at this point). I want basically every Capcom game on Switch, and, compared to more intense stuff like Monster Hunter World or Street Fighter 5, this seems like it wouldn't be too hard for Capcom to pull off.
My faith in Capcom has been restored recently; now it's up to Capcom themselves to keep it going!
Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.
I think Okami would work well on the Switch and if Capcom wants to bring other titles then I couldn't think of a more suitable game.
With that said I don't see Okamiden coming to Switch, Okami HD did have completely redone textures but Okamiden would need most if not all models remade. This probably isn't worth the bother for a game that isn't likely to make a lot of money. Yes Okami isn't a big seller either but they only had to redo the textures and they've been able to use them for PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC so it is less of an investment for Capcom.
@Kimyonaakuma I've bought Okami 4 times now (I'm a huge fan of Japanese mythology/religion and Shinto in general) so whenever Capcom tosses it on the Switch...I'll buy it again. I do hope they port Okamiden at some point though. I can see them doing a quick up res job similar to how the did monster hunter and resident evil revelations.

It's kinda what I want with Okamiden, a complete remake....because it felt like a watered down Okami port for me. :c (obviously it had its own story/gameplay mechanics and all that, but still...lol)

I've never played Okami before but don't want to buy for XB1 in case it comes to Switch (seriously, XB1 is pretty much a console exclusive + Rock Band 4 machine for me now because of the Switch's genius "play anywhere" approach).
@Ryu_Niiyama I'll buy Okami on any platform I own, it's mix of Zelda-ish gameplay with Japanese and Shinto elements is a perfect combination for me.
The game's engine must scale pretty well because it's translated really well over several hardware generations so the Switch shouldn't be a problem for Capcom.
I don't personally think that Okamiden would look good if they give it the MH/RE treatment. Monster Hunter already had pretty good models but it received better textures and extra effects anyway. RE already has had HD ports so the Switch collection was more of a downscaling.
Okamiden would look really empty and would be filled with low res textures and jaggy models.
If they're going to make Okamiden HD they'll need to redo a lot of the models, some of the areas are the same as original and could be reused but most will need to be from scratch. It would be really good if they could adjust it so that I worked well on one screen, but they could just make it the original Okami in that aspect.
So yeah, I would love for it to happen but it seems unlikely. I would buy it if they just made it 1080p but I'm not really most people. But with that said I'm pretty sure that most people that have played Okami have bought it more than once, the fans are dedicated!
Okamiden would need a full remake, that much is obvious. It's way too segmented and empty as it is. Then again, I'm a sucker for smaller-sized versions of console games, so I like it that way. Don't think it's in the cards either, we'll see a sequel to Okami before we see a remake of Okamiden.
Yeah, Okamiden would take a lot more work for something that's generally regarded as the lesser game. It's designed for a small screen and doesn't scale at all well; just try watching a gameplay video of it on your TV and then one of Okami. On top of the graphics, all the dual screen displays and stylus controls would need to be reworked.
Also against it are very poor sales - and Okami's weren't great - and a lack of critical acclaim. I'd think of it as a nice little addition of more of the same for those who'd finished the first game, but beyond that it doesn't really offer much. I suppose it always had portability on its side, but if the Switch gets HD Okami that's looking a bit moot too.
I am confident Okami will make it to the Switch. Just a matter of time.
I bought the PS2 version, the Wii version and the PS3 HD remaster. It’s one if my all-time favorite games. I would even buy it on Switch again, but only if they let you speed up the conversations.
I've been wanting to try the game. Was disappointed to see it's not on the Switch, given the original was released on the Wii. I'll just wait until it gets put on sale on PS4 or Steam, I guess.
