Can anyone help me out with how I can get WiFi to work on my switch when not at home? I can't get to the wifi login screen after the switch displays connection failed. I click ok but then when the browser comes up it always says web page failed to load and I can click retry several times but nothing happens.

I've been trying to login many times several times a week when I'm at different places that require a login and I'm very frustrated because I mainly bought my switch to play out of the house. Thanks.

Not unless the location gives you wifi access then you won't get wifi. You can use your smart phone as a hotspot for your Switch to connect to and access the internet through your smart phone.

@SwitchForce I've tried it everywhere that has free WiFi. My browser on my phone loads each wifi login screen without issues but on the switch nothing comes up and just shows "cannot display page".

I'm trying to avoid tethering because I use prepaid and only have 1gb data, so if that's my only option I'll just have to pass on the multiplayer stuff.

@Roblox84 then you got problems, alot of places now require a browser login to get free wifi and since the NSW has no browser you can't get the wifi. Your smart phone hotspot is your only choice.

Well I really hope they fix that then. Being marketed as a portable console as well you'd think Nintendo would have this figured out.

Since no one is able to verify where your problem is happening this make for a hard sell. Wifi places have their own policies and you should talk to them. You can use your phone to get the wifi and make it the hotspot for the NSW.

@SwitchForce I didn't know about the wifi issue, I looked on Amazon one day and saw they had payday 2, Wolfenstein and Doom for portable so I bought the system.

What app do I use to forward WiFi from my cell to the switch without having to use my data? If I can do that then I could care less about the browser issue with the switch.

@SwitchForce Never mind bro, you're a lifesaver. I just got a new phone recently but I found the setting to share the wifi connections without having to use Bluetooth or data. If you didn't mention it I wouldn't have even know since I've never messed around with this settings.

Glad you got it resolved, but I want to clarify something. The Switch can and does open WiFi that requires a browser based page. I’ve used it at a hospital and a mall multiple times (once a month at hospital, in fact). In those instances, it’s a simple “Agree/Accept” prompt with terms that appears after selecting the connection.

The Switch can load these browser pages, but it may be dependent on settings in the network as to what devices are allowed in.

@Roblox84 Public wi-fi that requires a login just isn't going to work. And in my experience, it wouldn't be fast enough to be useful anyway. You're better off tethering off of a smartphone or a mobile hotspot like pocket wi-fi.

@HobbitGamer Yeah it's probably the network settings then for sure because just about all these networks I've tried have a simple agree button to login.

@Heavyarms55 I'm tethering off my smartphone now but using my workplace WiFi instead of 4g and it works real good and uses very little battery. So I'm super pumped now that I can do some online gaming at work.

Although now since Nintendo is charging for online it looks like that killed off allot of players on payday 2. I'm only seeing 3 hosts on my screen, hopefully it picks back up a little.

Depends some call it hotspot or tether - I did that on my phone as well knowing the place I work requires Browser to use the wifi and that was something I got a rude awaking at work. That was when I found that connect your Smart phone to the wifi and make it the hotspot or tether and connect your NSW to it and it work. I tried that at home using my home wifi that my phone connects to and the hotspot and it worked. So I was like no way...but yes way it worked. So this is the only real solution for those wifi that requires a Browser connection to use their Wifi which to me really stinks to high heaven. But glad it work so that is the best solution that I know of currently until they just let it wifi connect but they make it harder then it is but they do have a interest to protect their wifi as well.

Or you can turn your laptop into a mobile hotspot. That works.

That's more work then it needs be. Setting your hitspot on your phone prior is quicker and if your on the go laptop isn't a light item plus it adds bulk.
