Topic: Why do people want Waluigi in smash.

Waluigi is playable in Fortnite tho, which is close enough to having an official game. Also, YEEah, Waluigi is in Fortnite, it's just dat nobody is WAH enough to unlock him (And those pesky cheaters were sent to the shadow realm under Waluigi's command).

@Euler It doesn't change the fact that Luigi was created for being a "second player" as much as Wario was created as Mario's nemesis and Waluigi as Luigi's nemesis. Every character has their origins, Mario was just a few pixels with different bright colours so people could tell it was a man, any man. Jumpman.

Your right! He’s gone far beyond his orgin’s by golfing, partying and racing. None of which have been done by any other existing Mario character.

@Mrtoad Lovely sarcasm but you didn't understand anything... And how many games did Luigi star in before Super Smash Bros.? Mario is Missing? And what is Smash? Oh wait, it's a multiplayer game with Nintendo characters and some extra guests!

You implied Waluigi had advanced past just being a doubles partner for Wario and I pointed out that he hasn’t done anything that couldn’t be done by any other character in the Mario series.

Response to your edit: Never said staring in a game is a requirement to be in Smash. Just saying one needs a good move set to be in Smash. But, agreed that Luigi was a weak character until Brawl.

I really don't care what these fictional characters have done for the world and I haven't really thought about what characters could have done what other characters did, probably any of them as they usually have similar skills to save the world or win a match.

The only thing that matters is that Waluigi makes more sense than any clone and many of the recent additions. I am absolutely sure that the people pretending that he doesn't deserve being in Smash will change their minds in the future, they just need Nintendo to tell them what to think and what is right. It has always worked like that.

@Mrtoad What moves did Peach have before joining Smash? Now she throws turnips as any Super Mario Bros. 2 character did and uses clubs, racquets and... frying pans. And the umbrella from a game released AFTER he joined Smash, Super Princess Peach. Waluigi could have sports attacks, throw bombs like he does in the Mario Power Tennis intro and new moves like many other characters in the game.

I’ll probably be OK with Waluigi hitting people with tennis rackets and golf clubs (done nowhere else in Smash by another fighter) the same day I’d be happy with 7 characters having Counter as their down special or having Daisy in Smash. (Never)

@Mrtoad I wasn't angry even if I sounded a too serious so I apologise if I sounded like that. I just remembered that Peach joined Smash after having her own game so I edited that part and others to better explain my thoughts, so you can read that again.

What makes more sense for Waluigi are sports attacks and bombs are very related to him because he used them in Mario Power Tennis and Bomb-omb is his special attack in Mario Kart Double Dash. He could swim in the air like in Mario Hoops, control vines like in Mario Strikers, pull out roses... He would have a silly funny moves set like Wario and Luigi.

It could be a dark, serious game like Heavy Rain. Ooo! It could be called Purple Rain, and he goes around shouting Wah! for 15 minutes.

He only exists as as filler to the Mario Sports games, because Nintendo is too lazy to use unique Mario characters like Nabbit or Captain Toad. He's just a copy of Wario and Luigi, which were in turn a copy of Mario. Just like all the Koopalings, or the stupid rabbits from Odyssey, lazy character design

Waluigi is completely Warui.

Because an ironic appreciation of the character, that as usual becomes real appreciation. I for one like him and use him as much as I can. I don't like the way Nintendo treats him. Even as a pathetic enemy he deserves to be a playable character more often. If you don't like it just don't choose him.

People want Waluigi in Smash because other people want Waluigi in Smash.. it's as simply as that. There will be a few people that genuinely have a good reason for this, but the vast majority want the attention that joining the meme-train can give them. Look at the case of Sakurai getting death threats, demanding he add Waluigi (pretty much guaranteeing he won't).. do these people genuinely have a life or death reason for their convictions, or have they been swept up by peer pressure & hype?

Let's put it this way, whenever I seen someone getting angry that Waluigi isn't in Smash... I picture that one guy abusing McDonalds staff, leaping on the counters shouting "PICKLE RICK" for a cheap pot of sauce.

@BlueOcean Some of Peach’s moveset comes from Super Mario RPG. And Wario underwent character development between his first appearance and Melee. He’s more of a jerkass with a heart of gold (on his good days) that goes on his own treasure hunting adventures and makes micro games than a foil to Mario nowadays.

@DanteSolablood It's exactly the opposite, people are artificially hating Waluigi because four random people were rude to Sakurai. It's pathetic.

@BlueOcean I'd politely have to disagree with that assertion. The backlash to those threats was only as large as it was precisely because meme/joke was taken as far as it was and has largely faded. You have to consider whether anyone would even have sent those threats if they hadn't jumped on the "Waluigi doesn't get a break bandwagon". I also disagree with your numbers... but that's a whole other kettle of fish.

Either way, personally I neither like or dislike Waluigi - he's not had that much character development outside of a rude gesture he made during Mario Soccer Strikers. He's received so much free publicity in the last few months both positive and negative that he's definitely MUCH more high profile than ever before.

But I return to my original statement... people want Waluigi in Smash because other people want Waluigi in Smash. Waluigi as a character hasn't really done anything to deserve inclusion.
