I just got it digital. I know I could have saved a ton getting it physical (GCU) but I would rather have it on the go...that is worth the extra dosh to me. I forgot how pushy GS employees are (went in to get my eshop cards).

Got email saying with my SSB orders I get a collector coin for both version. I was like yeah, now I have to keep the standard version so I get Two coins. December will kill my funds...ugh...hopefully not.

@redd214 "preorder at gamestop as well to get the poster then just return it the next day."
I just have to run over before they open to get the poster-they told me first come first get.

Not at my GS unless you were doing to much window shopping.

Getting SSB physical using my GCU got coins instead.

@Ryu_Niiyama I have read this a bit and maybe it's just my area but I have never encountered a "pushy" gamestop employee. There are 5 within 15 minutes of my house and I go to them pretty regularly for a years and have never felt pushed at all. Definitely not the pinnacle of customer service but after asking their typical 2 or 3 questions they just get me what I need. Seems weird.

@redd214 Not really to be honest. It depends on how the DM runs the district (and the size of the district and how ambitious the SM is- I had two SMs that wanted to be DMs and they ran us into the ground to make their numbers look good.) I worked for GS for nearly 5 years in high volume districts and payroll is kinda cutthroat on hours because they lean heavily on numbers. I didn't care when I was an assistant manager because I had guaranteed hours and I didn't run a ship like that and I just took the heat from the SM but when I stepped down to keyholder I had to go back to the numbers or else mindset. But the high volume districts are like that. The store I went to is in a mid volume district so they aren't annoying enough that I wanna hit them, but the guy was trying way too hard with his pitch. Usually if I mention I'm a former employee it shuts that down...but this dude did not care. Its the season...it happens. I barely go into a gs unless I need something quickly or exclusive anyway. BB gets my money till my GCU expires next year.

@ReaderRagfish Like I said it depends on the district and how its run and its volume. I have never had an experience that smooth. I've offered them but never had them.

@ReaderRagfish that's what you consider pushy? 3 questions, 10 second conversation? My doctors office is more pushy than that lol. That's tame as it gets imo.

@Ryu_Niiyama well I would assume my area is a high volume district just based on the population and number of locations (25+ within 20 miles) Like I said visit at least one gamestop a couple times a month and have for probably a decade and don't remember anyone coming across as pushy. Was in one on Sunday and had to go to 2 the Sunday before that, outside of the questions above nothing abrasive about the people at all, Guess I'm lucky sorry to hear about your experiences though mine have been good thoigh

@ReaderRagfish sure that's true, but to call that pushy seems overboard, ahh well back to smash talk I guess!

I always love how the guy who typically works at the Gamestop I go to occasionally is wildly inaccurate every time he tries to be informative. He once tried to sell me on a Vita by informing me that it was almost as powerful as a PS4.

Can anybody clarify where the Super Smash Bros. Joy-Con appear with the Smash logo in the home menu screen and on 1-2 Switch? (1-2 Switch displays the colours of the Joy-Con being used, which is a really, really nice touch)

I was under the impression that Joy-Con only contain data for an individual colour value and nothing else, so I am interested to know how the console itself interprets the Joy-Con.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@subpopz : The question of pre-ordering at EB is always an awkward experience. Considering that they always charge full retail price at launch (and usually gut all of their games as well), I'm not too keen on giving them my business when I can save $20 (sometimes more) by shopping elsewhere. The only time that I do pre-order is if there is a pre-order bonus (only if it is worth paying full price for the game for, as opposed to buying the standalone game cheaper elsewhere) or it is an exclusive limited edition.

Dood! Same here. I got to ASM in a high volume in the Charleston SC district during the Wii to Fallout 3 years. It def depends on the area DM and whether they’ve spent much face time in stores. Store managers know their audience.
The store where I live now is great, the staff are so nice. I currently have a desk job in a totally different field, but I can tell when I deal with field clinicians that never worked retail or food service in their life 😂

Anyway... 6 more bedtimes after tonight!!!

@HobbitGamer Hey hey, you survived! That is what is important right?! Every black friday I sleep in now, just because I can lol.

Anybody know if the servers open up at midnight...but what time zone? I gotta work on smash day but I may stay up late and snag a game or two.

@Ryu_Niiyama I did that for a few years, now my friends use me as muscle/babysitting during shopping.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the servers go up midnight in Japan

@Ryu_Niiyama @HobbitGamer I really have no idea how (or why) Gamestop thrives as though it sells insurance policies and annuities. It makes no sense for a specialty retailer in 2018.

@NEStalgia Well they are having more trouble as of late. The acquisition of ThinkGeek and Kongregate were odd and I think they took some shareholder heat. You can judge a location by the way their merchandising is displayed on the wall, typically. Whatever category draws more money per square foot is what will get more wall space. In mine, it’s obviously collectibles and merch.
