I just played zelda on the switch and its quite enjoyable, stayed up from 4am waiting in line with my friend so he could get the switch. Many might think ive been all doom and gloom about the switch thinking its underpowered compared to other consoles and I still believe that it is. Probably along the lines of a portable wii u. After playing however I am not really too concerned about the lack of power the switch has. Looking at zelda in portable mode I really don't think detailed next gen graphics would look good on a portable console. The fine details would probably get lost in the small screen of the portable so getting stripped down versions will probably be possible.

I think the only issue is the games being docked being on a bigger screen might be more difficult to pull off. I did notice a lot of stuttering with the frame rate docked though. However I still think the graphics at 900 p looked great on my 60 inch tv. Also it was probably easier to play seeings you could see the finer details on the tv.

As for the desync issue. I didnt do the test like game explain did I just put the joycons behind my back and had link running around and never noticed anything out of the ordinary.

so far this is a pretty cool piece of tech.

Wow i disagree with this, next gen games will look amazing!! Zelda is unbelievable in handheld, no popups the draw distance is crazy good, it looks the same as when docked it is just outstanding. The potential of switch is next level and the quality is fantastic. Ive never been a Nintendo fanboy but this will probably turn me into one, purchasing this i have zero regrets!

It's beautiful. Everything I've ever wanted.

Haven't tried TV mode yet.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

I think what people forget about Zelda when it comes to the issues it has with frame rate, visuals etc is that it is a port of a Wii U game which was done late in development and on an engine that was likely not optimised for Switch as well it could have been.

As the system progresses and Nintendo and other developers learn how to fully make the most of the hardware available, games will look better and better. Personally I love the system. I only stopped playing to see if the world still exists online. And it does. Also I need to be up early tomorrow.

Although I've enjoyed the Switch a lot on my own, it REALLY comes into it's own with when playing local multiplayer- especially when I play it with my Nephew and Niece. It's true Snipperclips, 1 2 Switch, Just Dance, and Bomberman aren't huge multi million dollar triple A games, but seeing them through younger eyes with the players laughing and getting playfully competitive is when they really shine.

Looking forward to starting Zelda on Sunday when I'm not exhausted.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

@MrGawain I have Bomberman and will be getting FAST RMX and Snipperclips too!

@Deathwalka I was more meaning that the details that go into next gen games won't need to be at its highest because the screen is at a size that you wont notice any of the down grades. Texture resolutions being one of them . The screen does look great though. but you won't notice if link has detailed buttons on his trousers on that screen lol. My friend had to take the switch home. Now im going to go through withdrawls.

I dont know how on earth u can compare this with wii u graphics! Im gobsmacked, the switch is far above wii u in graphics and processing power!

@Deathwalka Haha let's not go crazy here. Zelda on Wii u and switch are virtually identical except for docked which is 900 p. It's not like the models are different or they are using different shaders. I know docked is a bit more powerful then a Wii u but it's not night and day. Unless you are comparing graphics from the Wii not the Wii u lol

Only have 1 game so far. Put about 2-3 hours total into Zelda so far. Graphics are nice but noting special. Only tried in TV mode as this is how I am mainly going to be playing Switch games. FPS on Zelda has far from being a solid 30FPS with noticeable dips.

So far Zelda is ok. Not played a Zelda game properly since the N64. As with all open worlds I have had a bit of an explore instead of carrying on with quests. Combat is ok but the world as I feared so far seems a bit empty.

Going to download that Wipeout style game tomorrow.
