SViper

Hello,
Wanna know which controllers would work on Switch that was not created for Switch and what ways they would work? Asking this, because at my local pawnshop saw some Xbox 360 controllers and wanna know if they will work with Switch Docked via USB? Plus can't find anyone making list of it in internet, so I will update this post with what people will post here to know what controllers people can use on Switch.
Thank you in advance.

@SViper I know you can use various non-Switch controllers with an 8bitdo adapter. I'm not sure exactly what controllers are compatible with it though. I know the Wii U Pro, Xbox One and PS4 controllers can be used. You definitley need some sort of dongle though. Just plugging it in with USB won't work.

@SViper No, definitely not. Only Switch controllers can be used this way, not even the Wii U Pro will work. This little dongle allows for nearly any blue tooth controller to work with it though.

Hmm, on the one hand that would let me use a XB1 controller as a Pro Controller, thus meaning I don't need to buy a second Joy Con set

On the other hand, XB1 controllers wouldn't be capable of the motion controls needed for some Switch games

On the third hand it would allow me to use my joy cons as a gamepad on the PC too

On the fourth hand... I don't have this many hands so the idiom has probably died by this point

The cost for a pro controllers is far better money spent trying to figure what works and doesn't work.

Eh, think I'd rather get another pair of joycon. That way I can do 4 player local multiplayer in Super Mario Party.

@FaeKnight , So are we hijacking SViper thread now? If you want to make your discussion create your own thread.

This is the best and only worthwhile way to use non-Nintendo controllers with the Switch. Though why you would really want to, I don't understand. The only alternative controller I use is the 8Bitdo pro for retro-style games.
