I don't know what the rules are for who can be in a Smash game, but I've included some movie characters too.

4. Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean
5. Darth Vader from Star Wars
6. Mr. Toffee from Candy Crush
7. A Lego guy
8. Lanius from Fallout: New Vegas
9. An Enderman from Minecraft
10. Jango or Boba Fett from Star Wars
Goku (honestly I'm half serious, but I also can't think of a 10th character)
There's a pattern to the newest Gen of Pokemon always being represented, so I think a Gen VII Pokemon is a shoo-in (perhaps Decidueye or Incineroar), unless Gen 8 releases before Smash.
I just want Mega Man and Sonic to stay, but my biggest hope is that Snake returns...
Other than that, I dont really have any complaints with the Smash 4 roster as is.
@FriedSquid Goku isn't as bad a choice as some might think. The recent Dragon Ball fighting game is really good too. He'd fit in just fine. The anime origin would annoy a lot of people though.
Honestly, it comes down to what you want out of Smash. Personally, I see it as a celebration of video game characters, not just Nintendo. Obviously other might only want Ninty characters. Either one is fine.

10) I think I'll leave this one empty because I can't make up my mind. If there is a chance to get Banjo I'd put him on par with Donkey Kong, otherwise there are many things I'd like but can't really decide. One of the best thing of Smash bros is that it is so full of different things.
I would like something from Skyrim to celebrate the first time a TES game has been released on a Nintendo console. It can be a dragon main character or a comic relief character as assist character. For example they could use M'aiq the liar as an assist character. I don't care if it is a main character, an assist character or just some easter egg but it would be very nice.
I want a dragon as one of the main characters but almost certainly we will have Charizard so it is not strictly necessary to have a dragon from Skyrim to scratch that itch.

Simon Belmont feels like he should have already been in Smash. Now that Mega Man is in he’s the biggest and most obviously missing ‘classic’ character.

More important than just adding characters I’d like to see the inklings link up with your Splatoon 2 data. So your Splatoon character in Smash should be wearing the same clothes as they would be in Splatoon 2.
10 Fire Emblem characters with different "weapons" and from a mixture of games so like your archer could be Takumi, your lance user could be Ephraim, your axe user could be Hector, you could have some laguz like Ranulf and Tibarn, etc.

Agreed, it has just been the Triforce wielders for far to long and that Ganon needs a rework, I don't even care how, so long as he's not ripping off Cpt. Falcon...or anyone else. Also, you don't want Beedrill for Smash?

For the Smash Ballot, the rules were "Had to have come from a video game.", I would assume the same rules will be applying for Smash 5, but Sakurai is known for being surprising.

That idea with the Inklings is pretty intriguing. Though if they have the option to be the most fashionable characters in Smash, I would like to double down on all characters having tons of awesome skins.

To each their own. I feel like there's to much FE in Smash currently, however, adding 10 anything from any franchise would be severe overkill. Though I like the idea of characters having different weapons, swords have gotten so old so fast.

I dunno, I feel like ValvE would have NO problem putting in Heavy (or anyone) for Smash, they've got quite a few cameo's in other games, it just boils down to whether or not Nintendo wants that.

That's good to know. Movies have a ton of characters that would be amazing in Smash. Two more I thought of is Predator and Alien.

Leaving logic firmly at the door...
I think that Ezio Auditore (Assassin's Creed) would make a pretty cool (if unlikely) addition; he's agile, nimble and has them ninja-fighting skills! (..likewise, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader from Star Wars - both are pretty epic with lightsabres in hand!)
Not sure what moves he'd have but, for some retro-goodness, it'd be pretty sweet to see Q*Bert make a comeback after all these years!
Yooka and Laylee could make a fun 2-in-1 character! (..and if they could get Banjo and Kazooie as well, it'd be fun to see which pairing would win in a head-to-head battle! )
Earthworm Jim has been in a fighting game - the game itself may have been terrible, but Jim is still my favourite gaming earthworm, so it'd be great to see him brought back...and get a second chance in fighting game that's actually decent! #Redemption!
Hammer Bro should get some love too! ..and the throwing hammers would make for an awesome range weapon! (..also Oddjob from GoldenEye - not only is he a classic video game character, but they could give him the blade-trimmed throwable hat he had in the film Goldfinger as a unique weapon!)
...and I'll throw Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark) in there too - more of a shooter than a fighter, I guess - but one of my favourite gaming protagonists nonetheless! (..and it'd be beautiful to see her 'return home' to a Nintendo console after all these years! )
There aren't many characters I'd want besides that except maybe Isaac from Golden Sun. Chibi-Robo is a character I find would be a great fit for Smash Bros. He would have such a creative moveset, probably swinging around his cord for basic attacks but for specials and smash attacks he has so many tools in his arsenal. His blaster, squirter, chibi-copter, and so much more. He would even have some cool costumes, like his frog costume and Drake Redcrest suit. I'm surprised more people aren't asking for him in Smash.
