Topic: What's the Point of Splatoon 2 League Battles?

I don't know if I'm missing something here, but the League Battles seem like nothing more than a distraction. Because there are 7 placement matches to determine a league rank within a 2 hour period, you end up spending about half the allotted time just getting a league rank. I got a couple of friends to try it with me, and we didn't feel like we accomplished anything. Sure, if you're good enough you get medals and exp and possible rewards, but maybe if there was more time per league rotation (at least 6 hours to a day) or a Squad Battle feature like in the first Splatoon, I wouldn't feel like I wasted my time as much with it.

Don't get me wrong, I love both games, but this just seems backwards to me... also the fact that there's still no easy way to be grouped with friends in Turf War without pure luck, but one step at a time
