If FIFA does well enough, I'm sure we'll have the other sports games too. EA needs evidence that the casual sports crowd is on the platform. With the added portability and instant pick up and play multiplayer, the Switch could be great for these kinds of games.
Let's hope that FIFA 18 (and NBA 2K, thought that's a different publisher) don't falter. Those are the two sports game announced that need to succeed.
Otherwise, we'll be just having Mario and Wii Sports.
@shrktank that wouldn't be possible as the switch would be in the dock itself... what is possible and would be great for multiplayer outside of the home..is LAN play between two/three/four switches playing games like FIFA,NHL,NBA in this way brings a whole new level of mulitplayer on the go.
The general consensus is that those who are buying the console in the launch period which i'd say is the 1st 9 months (through to fall) need to dig deep and buy these types of games to show that the system has a user base for these games. Personally i'll purchase FIFA. I work offshore and this console is the perfect fit for me but it needs 3rd party support if it gets it i'll buy for this console 1st over the xbox and ps4 i have.
@ashman87vg I don't think anyone should buy games they wouldn't buy otherwise. It should be the other way around, the Switch should attract the people that want a certain type of games by making sure they are available in the first place.
EA will definitely be paying close attention to NBA 2K18 and FIFA 18 sales. Hopefully we see Madden down the line!
Sales vs development costs, the fact Nintendo switched architecture should make the later cheaper, giving marketing both barrels (I never saw a single WiiU ad! let alone SB!) should help the former.
Switch games list,
Legend of Zelda BotW, Human resource machine, NBA Playgrounds, Street Fighter 2, Super Bomberman R, Snipperclips, Overcooked, World of Goo.
