I hoped for Animal Crossing and we didn't get it

I didn't however expect Pokemon, Rocket League or two Metroid games.

Ditto Animal Crossing is my favorite game series next to Mario. But I'm glad they didnt show anything because I remember AC fans waiting for quite awhile for New Leaf to come out after it was first announced and shown. I can only imagine the amount of man hours and time that's going to be put into a bigger console version.

I was surprised by all those games you mentioned too, rocket league is going to be a huge success on the Switch no doubt.

I was also surprised that there was no mention if a smash bros port.

@Masurao I wanted to see more of those games as well. I'm guessing those are going to be more featured at TGS. I fear the absence of Squeenix means they will be TGS focused as well. In the case of SMT, it's already confirmed for the west (it's on NoA's site) but that indicates that localization is going to take quite a bit of time and won't be seen until next E3. in the case of Squeenix, some games like DQ11 it makes me wonder if it will be localized at all. I thought the "adult reasons" for no Switch discussion on DQ11 had to do with either a Nintendo exclusive deal in the West (not at E3 so nope), or a Sony exclusivity deal in the west (apparently, nope on that either, not a peep about it.) So DQ11 in the west seems to be in limbo on all platforms. Fortunately we get XC2 for our big RPG fill this year. And Sony has Persona 5 so it's not hurting for mega massive RPGs. Microsoft is out to lunch as usual in the RPG department.

Edit: It's actually a weird situation. Capcom seems to be abandoning their Japan audience almost entirely in search of the big western market. Squeenix seems to be doubling down on their Japan audience: "Nothing leaves Japan!"

I am definitely excited with the lineup Nintendo has shown so far, and not disappointed at all. The games they've announced will surely keep me busy for a while. That said, I would really love to have seen Animal Crossing. I'm ok with it not having been announced though, since I only recently got New Leaf for the 3DS and still have plenty of work ahead of me. I'm already highly entertained by some of the features that have been added, and especially the Amiibo support. W. Link ftw!

I was hoping that some "big third party" (not necessarily "big" third party) announcements would be forthcoming. It was very quiet.

And yeah, Pikmin 4 really was an expectation for me.

Animal Crossing was a high-hope though.

@NaviAndMii Yeah, I'm not the biggest Sony fan, but I have a PS4 and the only game they showed that interested me was Shadow of the Colossus, and I haven't even played the first one.

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

@MasterWario Absolutely! Across the whole of E3 there weren't really more than a handful of PS4 games that really caught my attention - none that I can say I'm truly excited about...I'd hoped that they were saving the crème de la crème for the main Sony conference - but, after watching it, I was left feeling decidedly underwhelmed

Wanted a military FPS and Activision apparently has come out and said cod ww won't be on Switch. Very sad about this. Need a FPS fix (not splatoon) on the switch only thing that will be missing from the catalog.

The lack of an FPS hadn't really crossed my mind until I saw your comment...I was really quite happy with the Nintendo Spotlight overall - but it has still left us with a pretty big, FPS-shaped hole in the Switch library...hope that hole gets plugged before too long!

I would have love to see a new F-Zero game announced for next year, as well as some major 3rd party games, coming to the Switch but that's about it. Anything else they could have announced like an Animal Crossing Switch game, I can easily wait for until next year

Peek-a-boo

I was rather happy with the Nintendo side of things, and whilst I have a PlayStation 4 to sweep up and play all of those third party games, it is still disappointing to see that the third party support is really feeble.

  • Activision - zero zip zilch nada.
  • Bethesda - an old game rather than a new one; The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Capcom - zero zip zilch nada... not even a localisation of Monster Hunter XX
  • Electronic Arts - FIFA 18 (this is only coming out due to FIFA contract reasons)
  • Take Two Interactive - NBA 2K18
  • Ubisoft - Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and Starlink: Battle of Atlas (no Assassin's Creed Origins, Beyond Good & Evil 2, The Crew 2, Far Cry 5, Skull & Bones or South Park: The Fractured But Whole)

Just wish it was somewhat comparable to the GameCube days when there was a high(er) percentage of third parties that were available on the PlayStation 2, GameCube and the Xbox. I would never consider sticking with just Nintendo these days like I used to during the N64, GameCube and Wii days.

Been happy so far but really wanted to see what Retro has been doing. Info on VC, too.

Hrm... VC, I think. I have enough on my hands to play through the Holidays concerning big releases, but VC intro and handful of smaller titles would have been nice. Also, upgrades to the UI - as in, some core apps like Youtube and Netflix. I know it's not a huge deal, but dang it would be nice to be able to pull up Youtube on my Switch.

1. Virtual Console. I can wait, but it would have raised my opinion of Nintendo's E3 much more.
2. Retro Studios. WHAT have they been working on?!
3. Apps. There is no reason why the Nintendo Switch can't have apps like YouTube, Netflix, etc. if all other consoles have them.

Well, there is still technically hope for more announcements tomorrow, but I think the nail is in the coffin: we won't hear anything about VC until we get more details about the online program, and that won't be until later in the year. And worst case scenario: there is no VC, per say, but just the classic games you can get through subscribing to online.

Either way, the company seems to be positioning itself for a pretty explosive Fall/Holiday season, with a huge game coming out pretty much every month and, if what early impressions are saying, another potential blockbuster with Odyssey. To drop GOOD news about VC when people are attracted by Odyssey would be a great strategy (they obviously weren't ready for launch/Zelda).

Among my favorite games of all time include:
-Super Mario Galaxy
-A couple of 3D Zeldas
-Metroid Prime
-Beyond Good and Evil
-Xenoblade Chronicles
-Sonic 2/3
-weirdly, not Animal Crossing. I'm weird.
-also Radiant Historia was my favorite game of 2011
-also Rayman Legends for 2013
-also Undertale for 2015
-a Metroid 2 remake is the best game I've played the past few months

This is a good time for me.

I think what was missing is the focus to Switch. There were quite a few reveals for 3DS in the past week ( Pokemon, Sushi Game, Mario & Luigi, Metroid i.e.) but it doesn't make sense to me. Switch is superior in all aspects as a portable device, so I was surprised by the amount of focus on 3DS. Don't get me wrong, I love my 3DS, but I don't get 2018 3DS releases.

@rk3388
yeah, it does seem kind of odd. I feel like having just half of those games on the Switch would make the Switch that much more of an appealing console. The 3DS has already succeeded. The Switch is the one that will make or break Nintendo so why not try to give it the biggest, best game library possible?

Well I hope not, since there's maybe 2 3DS games coming out in 2018 that I know of.

@Utena-mobile Not really. The Sushi game is the only brand new one. Two of them are remakes and the other one is an incredibly obvious expanison-pack esque sequel.

Even if they are remakes, could have appreciated a remake announced for Switch (maybe Luigi's Mansion, Mario RPG or Super Mario Sunshine- heck I would even buy the Metroid Trilogy again which could get new audiences excited for Metroid Prime 4)
