Ya, I remember talk about it a while back, but I never really looked into it.

It’s amazing. It may be expensive but, for $100 you can basically smooth out your switch games to look better? Shoot... done and done. I wouldn’t have paid $150 which is full price, but to get their longest cable available for $100? Fair trade imo.

Wish I’d looked into this sooner though. This is gonna help with Fire Emblem Three Houses, but I could have used for Xenoblade.

Oooh!

Civilization VI Rise and Fall expansion and Gathering Storm expansion headed to Switch this year!

I told people that Aspyr rep let it slip on Reddit.

Also, Nintendo now fixing joycons free of charge without proof of purchase. Doing the right thing. Respect.

@JaxonH Looking at Mario's nose in those pictures, what's up with all the lines on the right side? That would annoy me far more than the jagged edges that I hardly notice.

Poor @SpoonyTech , going out of business before he even started his repair service 😔

What a beautiful signature.

@JaxonH Lovely news! Looking forward to dropping yet another hundred hours into Civ 6!

I hope they fixed the "war with your ally" bug though. If you make an alliance on the same turn someone allied with them declares war with you, you end up helps as your ally murders you while you cannot fight back. A very specific bug that I have managed to trip more than once... It's in the PC version too.

@JaxonH its a great purchase at that price. I’ll be looking into getting one.

Playing Oninaki. I actually quite like it! It’s much, much better than I Am Setsuna or Lost Sphear. The combat is a lot more fun being in real time. The skill tree is pretty cool. And it has the whole light and dark world theme going for it like Zelda Link Between Worlds or Metroid Prime 2. Except, it’s the world of the living and dead. And there are unique mechanics for switching between them. If you just switch into the world of the dead any time, a veil of darkness ensues and any blow will be fatal, but if you do it next to this miasma, which usually appears after defeating certain tough enemies, the veil will be lifted and attacks won’t be fatal. So you really have to be strategic about when you switch. Then you may get a little ways into the world and then the path ends with darkness so you have to switch back to the world of the living to continue, but then the path ends with a miasma enemy, so you switch back to the world of the dead. It’s really cool.

And then there are these black whirl pool looking warps that instantly warp you across gaps, and there are these totem pole things where, if you step into them a shimmering force field thing surrounds you, and you can press A for a menu to access fast travel and saving your game, etc (even though the game auto saves also I believe).

I was always buying the game physically for import but, now I think I’m convinced to buy digitally as well. Especially with the preorder discount on the eShop.

Would be interested to hear others’ feedback for the game as well.

edit
One thing I’m not a fan of is the inability to cancel into a dash. It makes it rather useless. I saw a skill in the skill tree that allows you to take an action immediately after dashing but I am more concerned with dashing immediately after taking an action. You have to wait for your attack animation to completely stop before you can dash. And by the time that happens the enemy has already hit you. If they could address that one thing I think it would play a lot smoother

@Heavyarms55
That’s just the camera taking a picture off the tv. It wasn’t a native screenshot. There is no lines actually visible. It’s like when you try to take a picture of your 3DS and it looks like there’s a bunch of lines in the picture but they don’t actually exist. That’s just what happens when you take a picture of a screen with a camera.

And that’s an interesting bug. Very specific. I suppose it’s good to be aware of so as to avoid it.

@JaxonH Oh, I didn't realize it was a photo. That makes sense. And yeah it is a really specific bug, I imagine many people would never run into it. Just a coincidence that I did. It took it happening more than once before I realized it and looking online I found a few people saying they ran into the same thing. Apparently though sometimes the reverse happens, where the AI sees you as an ally and lets you tear through them. Though I've never experienced that version myself.

Man, my DS4 from 2014 still works fine. Great controller. Glad I'm not a bad luck magnet like summa y'all seem to be.

I haven't really heard any widespread complaints about the DS4, though, so I'm guessing problems either aren't as common or aren't as widely publicized.

It was mainly the first batch IIRC but with me it just seemed I kept getting bad ones.

@JaxonH Doing the right thing?? Come on let's be honest if that lawsuit didn't come up they wouldn't have done a thing. They saw that lawsuit and their PR department went oh shoot we don't want to deal with that.

Perhaps. Or the recent media attention and suit brought the issue to the attention of the higher ups, which they subsequently acted upon. Who can say... It's all just speculation. After all, there wasn't really any major attention on this issue until recently barring a few small pockets of the internet buried on forums.

Either way I'm not really interested in a blame game here. I'm just happy to see them doing the right thing, whatever their motivations (which make no difference to me- all that matters is the end result).

They very well could have decided to just move forward with denying any claims made outside of warranty and still been within their legal right, or at least still had a plausible legal argument. They could have doubled down, but they didn't. And for that I am glad. They're doing the right thing, motivations be what they may. We're getting results, which is all I care about.

Fixing any issues regardless of warranty or proof of purchase is the right move here, as opposed to doing the wrong thing, such as doubling down, ignoring the issue, silently fixing it and simply covering repairs within warranty and nothing more, then fighting the suit. Irrespective of decisions made up to this point (for which we can only speculate) there was a right reaction to the media and suit, and there was a wrong reaction to the media and suit. They chose the right reaction.

Exactly. And if there is anyone having an idea how widespread it is, it is Nintendo. They are the ones that get all the support tickets.

Even if this is the right move, it is the bare minimum. It should have been done long before now. That they acted so quickly tells us they have known about it for some time, they just didn't do it until they got sued.
Typical corporate bs, nothing to applaud them for.

They're retro-actively refunding people. I'm pretty sure that's more than the "bare minimum".

Late response? Maybe. Knew about it before? Possibly. But its more than the bare minimum, and its definitely the right response. No need to get so bloodthirsty about it. Nobody's defending joycon drift, and they've been getting ravaged over the issue all week. Credit where it's due. It is possible to criticize while also acknowledging the right response. They're not mutually exclusive.

Dude. <shakes head>

I've been here for years, and I've YET to see you actually say something slightly critical and constructive of Nintendo. You're a total yes man.

They absolutely knew something was wonky with the left Joycon from the get-go. They're lucky the whole launch of the Switch didn't go down in flames when it came out that the left Joycon was having communication issues at even short distances (and yes, mine was one of them - when in the controller mold, I couldn't sit more than 6ish feet from my TV before the left Joycon would start to spazz out). But, being like most people around here, I just kinda stuck it out and mostly played in handheld anyway. Everything seemed fine.

But then last week my left Joycon stick started to hardcore drift even when in handheld. Made playing games a nightmare, as you could imagine, especially stuff like Mario Maker that requires precise platforming (my buttons on my left Joycon are mashed to heck and are also not reliable lol). Never thought it would happen to me, was always the "I've had it since launch and no issues, must be your fault" kinda guy. Even bought a replacement left Joycon the other day (waste of 50 bucks now, thanks Nintendo but whatever).

They should have been doing something about this over a year ago. Period.

Bare minimum would have been doing this a year ago, before they got sued. Sure, those that were forced to pay for repairs are getting a refund. But how about those that bought new cons?

It is a PR move, right before the release of the lite, nothing more, nothing less. That is why I call it corporate bs.

If that is being blood thirsty, then I guess I am a vampire.

The switch in general has several hardware or accessory problems. Like ever since launch people have been complaining about the dock, the switch bending, the joycon issues and how the pro controller starts to break after like a year.

Makes it feel as if the Switch was rushed out considering Nintendo’s generally pretty good about making durable and long lasting stuff.
