@NEStalgia Yeah, it's a severe case, never seen anything like that. It also depends on where you live. I can imagine that living in the southern states in the US means the conditions aren't always favourable to plastics. But I also know of cases where people stored mint NES systems in their attic, only to discover they've also yellowed over time due to the heat, despite never been exposed to UV-light.
Hopefully! I had read that certain indies didn't even get a response when they approached Nintendo about potentially porting their game(s) over...let's hope that this improves the process
Good year for the traditional video game industry with additional shipments of PSVR, Nintendo Switch, and Project Scorpio all out this year
Uses his own primary school daughter as an example of a child who never wanted a home console before but wants a Switch
The important thing regarding Switch for software makers is what they users want
Cites the DS/Wii as examples of hardware with explosive hardware sales that at the start of their cycles did well thanks to Nintendo showing others how to make games fitting of the hardware, while third parties originally struggled on these platforms and didn't sell very well
Capcom aims to develop many different things for different hardware and is currently researching
In regards to Switch, Capcom will think of how to support the Switch while looking at how Street Fighter 2 does on the system in May
Asked about resurrecting old I.P by the interviewer after talking about the recent announcement of Capcom vs Marvel
Capcom wants to resurrect old I.P, but doing so makes many problems crop up
One of these problems is that they don't have enough people
The lack of people is due to the fast advancement of tech making every title require more people than ever
Also the development of their current I.P and new I.P means they have even less time to bring back old titles
p.s. It's a shame that it is a case of, 'let's overcharge $40 for a game that is over eight years old that we sold for $15 back in the day, and we shall evaluate (our stance on the Switch going forward) based on this'.
@Peek-a-boo We'll probably be seeing this more often throughout this year. Maybe Ubisoft will stop supporting Switch outside of Just Dance if the Mario Rabbids RPG doesn't do well, Bethesda stops supporting Switch if Skyrim doesn't do well, etc.
EA releasing ME3 on Wii U, to a market that wouldn't appreciate it, due to being the end of a trilogy with a story focus, at full price, while said market was aware they were being shafted with the Trilogy for cheaper elsewhere.
Logically it didn't sell, because if it did it would send the message that they are ok being shafted, so it didn't sell and EA walked away, well, ran.
So here's Capcom saying thi port with some okay-bad new features of a game you can get anywhere else, not for £35, is what we base our future on.
I can feel my heart sink...
Now Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4
@Peek-a-boo God this really bugs me. You'd think someone in Capcom would have the common sense not to base future support for the switch for an over-priced, old remaster of a game. Seriously it's just disappointing.
@BLP_Software My heart is sinking along with yours buddy...

On a brighter note, Monster Hunter is likely to appear on the Switch in some shape or form so, not all is lost.
To steer a company and its future support on something like Ultra Street Fighter II is genuinely absurd though. The reviews are slowly trickling out, and the (high) price is the number one talking point. Perhaps Capcom would be wise to take that into consideration if/when the game doesn't meet their expectations.
Nintendo: Hey Cap! Here is our new console! You like to develop for it?
Capcom: Sure, but you know. We got this new engine, which doesn't look new at all like RE 7 clearly shows, that is impossible to run on your new toy. It needs more ram man!
Nintendo: You're right, RE 7 looks exactly like RE 4 but then 1st person and more sucky. But have it your way. We'll put in the extra money, maybe then you will finally make an ACTUAL new installment in the MH series!
Capcom: Don't be so ambitious! And don't you worry, we'll have something new and exciting to release at launch!
Nintendo: What, another reskin of SF 2? haha
Capcom: ...
Nintendo: ...
Capcom : ... How did youknow!?

@Spanjard Yeah that's hardware! Weird that's the first instance I've seen of that. Centering/drifting problems are one thing, but random up presses is a pretty uncommon issue with analog sticks overall! No idea how NoE handles things, but at least for NoA I've heard only good things about how they're handling Switch service, so I'm sure they'll get you straightened out!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE You know, in my world TVs don't have "patches". I suddenly feel old.
@Peek-a-boo That statement can be read a few ways. "Determine how they will support Switch" That could either mean that if their overpriced 25 year old port fails they determine they won't support Switch seriously. It could also mean that if it succeeds they know they can support Switch with overpriced half baked retro games and see high sales, and if it fails they know they need to produce new content for the market. I can't imagine Capcom saying "heck our 25 year old $40 retro game didn't sell well, screw it Monster Hunter: Demonsaur is going to XBox!"
@FGPackers You did see the part that it was an interview with Capcom, right? I mean are you actually adding details here?
@Octane I think its just bad translation on NintendoLifes part, multiple people re-translated the Japanese interview and there is 0 mention of needs sales for SF2 or we drop support for Switch
My Samsung TV never had the problem. The problem it does have is being completely incompatible with the "Match TV Power State" function.
@Peek-a-boo I'm sure it's more of a case of "let's exploit these Nintendo/capcom fans who think that buying this game they don't want will increase the likelyhood of a Resident Evil or Mega Man 11 on Switch."
