Tbh I don't understand why they don't split the mainline games into the casual complete the adventure game for kids and then have the meta battling version for hardcore fans something along the lines of Stadium.
After typing that I just remember the original Pokémon Stadium (the one not released in the West) only had 40ish Pokémon, things never change, ha.
I like Pokemon well enough but unless they changed it up recently when you play one you have played them all. Play Red then play Pearl. That huge gap and see what I mean. That's why I haven't looked at news at the series in a while.
I'd assume Pokemon is just going to continue doing everything it can to piss off anyone who's played a previous title, and continue their attempts to make sure the games are solely enjoyable to kids, rather than all ages.
As rough as that sounds, the removal of fully optional features designed to make it more accessible or fun to older players (EXP Share, Difficulty levels, Post-game battling content, importing old Pokemon) at this point makes it seem like they're taking a hard stance on the fact that these games are for kids, and only for kids, and everyone else should stop playing.
EDIT: To clarify, I think they're going to go down the path we've all seen many times before: lowering the quality as much as they can get away with and make all their development decisions based on what will sell the most merchandise. They've decided the franchise can't last much longer so they're going to wring every last dollar out of it they can while the going's good.
@Kori9 Or it's a lack of belief in the future of the franchise from the higher-ups. They're refusing to invest the resources needed to make the games better. It's not laziness, it's greed.
