I didn't include a huge number of great Wii U titles (like Mario Kart 8 or Little Inferno) that are also available on Switch because they're in my Wii U top 10.

4. Super Mario Maker 2
5. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
6. Luigi's Mansion 3
7. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Splatoon 2 and Owlboy just missed. I deliberately left off the Mega Man and Castlevania collections (along with the NES/SNES apps) for being too retro, but those are frequent plays for me.

I'm surprised that Luigi's Mansion is on so many peoples lists, I've never played that series, I might give it a go.

This is difficult, but based on what I currently own as of the time of this post...

1) Splatoon 2 - Purely because I just keep returning to this every now and then I wouldn't even call myself a hardcore addict of this game (I am only level 47 in comparison to all the level 90+ and the people who have stars next to the levels; though still took me approx. 275 hours). Salmon run is just a joy to play, and ranked has been fun. I am still slowly making progress on playing through the single player with all the weapons and I still need to win the damn pin. The stages are fantastic too, and the soundtrack is brilliant!

2) Fire Emblem Three Houses - This was very close to being number 1, but Splatoon 2 just seemed that tiny bit more fun. I loved the story and the concept of playing through the game multiple times to get everyone's individual perspectives. The fact that you get to know the characters before the second half of the game means you actually care more about what happens to them and the inevitable discord when you realize you are on different sides (take note Fates). I like how magic now works in the game where instead of a tome, it is now a certain amount of uses per battle (although I wish it would be a little clearer which characters get what magic). Support conversations feel meaningful (although I wish they did more with the backgrounds and such). Soundtrack is also phenomenal (I love "Unfulfilled" and "Chasing Daybreak").

3) Super Mario Odyssey - Arguably Mario at its best for me. Exploring big detailed levels with moons everywhere to find. Always lots of things to do and the mechanics of Cappy make Mario feel fresher than ever. I feel on top of the world when I pull off a shortcut using Cappy. I loved the possession of characters (and if a sequel with Cappy happens, I would like even more transformations). For me personally, I thought Super Mario 3D World was just okay; it was a solid enough game, but did not feel as fun as 3D Land nor did it really offer much of anything new for me. To see Odyssey come after that feels like Nintendo knows that people do love the style of game play from 64 and Sunshine.

4) Luigi's Mansion 3 - I wasn't that excited for this game when announced. I thought that it was going to be too much like Luigi's Mansion 2 which whilst enjoyable, paled in comparison to Luigi's Mansion 1 as far as I am concerned. I love that you don't get dragged back to E.Gadd's lab every 5 minutes whilst exploring, and if you did need to go back for whatever reason, you could return from the pause menu then go back to where you started. The ghosts had lots of personality, the floors were themed and fun to explore, the presentation is excellent, and I love how practically everything in the individual rooms was interactable.

5) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - An incredibly fun game where exploration is king and doing so is satisfying. I have many misgivings with it which I have gone over in other places (dungeons, story/world-building, soundtrack), but the physics allowed you to be creative with how you approached fights and puzzles.

6) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Worth buying purely for the soundtrack alone (great compendium from so many different franchises), the amount of content is staggering. 80+ characters, each with their own classic route, 100+ stages, Spirits, it is truly a celebration of all things Nintendo, and possibly beyond. Would of been higher, but I don't play this that much all things considered. Still a bargain for what it is.

7) The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Classic 2D Zelda. I never finished the DX version despite having it on 3DS, but it was an absolute joy to playthrough on the Switch. World is colourful, characters are charming. Dungeons, whilst slightly simple, were fun to complete. The quality of life improvements also help immensely such as the ability to have the sword and shield equipped at all time separate from other items and a simple but interesting story. In some ways I enjoyed this more than Breath of the Wild, but it is lower due to being a port and that annoying dungeon builder mechanic which you must interact with to get 100%.

8) Astral Chain - I don't think this is the greatest game I have ever played. What story was there was interesting, but left me with so many questions. Soundtrack is amazing (Neuron HQ), the levels were fun to play through, and the general game play was fun with the controlling of two characters simultaneously in the form of the main character and the Legion. Very much looking forward to a sequel.

9) The Messenger - Only indie on my list.A short game but controls really well, and you feel like a speed runner on subsequent play-throughs. Ninja Gaiden inspired elements, and then all of a sudden, metroidvania. The writing is great too; the actual story is sort of simple, but it is well told. Soundtrack is great with two variants of each track.

10) Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition - Whilst ultimately a dynasty warrior game, the cast of characters with their own play-style is great, the story is fun to playthrough even if basic, and the adventure mode is great for returning to on occasion to complete and make your characters stronger.

This will probably change in the next couple of years as Nintendo releases more games.

FTFY 😝

Nice write up though. I want to play and love Splatoon 2 more, but I'm so sick of getting players in Turf War who score 0 at the end of a bout. Whether they're on my team or not, it ruins the balance, and happens way too often. I need to try more Salmon Run and single player.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

I haven't played a whole lot on Switch so my list may be kinda lame, but...

1. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
2. Luigi's Mansion 3
3. Celeste
4. Super Mario Odyssey (probably would be higher if I actually owned it and had more time with it)
5. Kirby Star Allies
6. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
8. Yoshi's Crafted World
9. Mega Man 11
10. Arms

The only other notable Switch games that I've played enough of to rank are Yooka-Laylee which started really strong but ended up being just ok in my opinion, and Splatoon 2, which really disappointed me due to how similar I found it was to the first one, but I know most people love it so the franchise probably just grew stale with me because I'm not big on shooter games. I also played some of BOTW even though I don't own it like with Odyssey and I REALLY wish I played more because that game is fantastic.

One of two people in the world who thinks Sunshine is the best Mario game.

MS7000

@gcunit I see what you did there. To be fair, I did think about using "if", but every now and then, Nintendo does surprise me (F-Zero please for the love of everything badass). I was playing turf war earlier when the ranked mode changed and I realised I only had 3 matches or so before I needed another ticket from Crusty Sean(?). Someguy on the other team had a 0, and I had that before on my side during splatfests. Hoping it doesn"t happen this weekend.

Salmon Run can be frustrating, but it is definitely my favourite thing about the sequel (bar possibly Octo expansion). It's fun and hectic standing against the horde.

It is a fantastic game. I love the characters, voice acting, story, and gameplay but... I don't own it on my Switch. I got a PS4 copy shortly before the release date was confirmed for Switch. I will get it on Switch eventually, but I am trying to find it cheaper than £40 (Got my PS4 copy for £22), not to mention; no big rush as I have finished the game and got level 99 with all characters.

Because Dragon Quest isn't that popular outside of Japan.

My top ten list:
1. Breath of the Wild
An absolutely incredible gaming experience, and one that everyone deserves to enjoy. Everything about it, the combat, the shrines, the story, just makes this game so good.
2. Super Mario Odyssey
Amazing. Incredible. One of the best 3D Mario games ever. What more could you ask for?
3. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
It’s still in it’s early days, with many updates still to come, but that doesn’t stop it from taking the number three spot.
4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Super Smash Bros. With all characters. For the Switch. What more could you ask for?!?!
Could have improved in a few ways, but a great game nonetheless.
5. Splatoon 2
The best online multiplayer on the switch. The whole idea of it, (a family friendly paint shooter)?!?! I think the single player wasn’t the best, but a great game.
6. Links Awakening
The colour, the music, the whole vibe about it, is just magical.
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
It’s Mario Kart. On the Switch. Just that makes this game the best racer I’ve played.
8. Luigis Mansion 3
A spooky mansion with secrets in every corner. And the one having to solve it all is Luigi! What could possibly go wrong? The answer is... everything! An amazing game.
9. Super Mario Maker 2
Building your own Mario courses is one thing. Sharing it online and playing others peoples too is something else altogether. The new update just makes it more wonderful.
10. All Nintendo Labo Kits
This isn’t really a game as such, but I still believe it deserves a spot on this list.

I'm gonna stick with a top 5, just to challenge myself a bit. If I'd draw up a top 10 I wouldn't really have to choose.

1) Zelda Breath of the Wild - by far my number 1 game of all time. I'm currently wrapping up my 2nd full playtrough and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
2) Civilization VI
3) Super Mario Odyssey
4) New Super Mario Bros U DX
5) Super Mario Kart 8 DX

All older games I reckon. Still waiting to 'click' with DQ XI, it became a bit boring after 30hrs but I will give it another try shortly. Still need to buy and start Animal Crossing; that one also has potential for me.
