One of the genres lacking on Nintendo Switch right now is the Western Style RPG.
I'd like this thread to be the major discussion forum on any information regarding this genre.
If you have any info regarding new announcements or rumors, please post them here and I'll update the list.
I like a lot The Quest, I have it on Steam and it is a great game imho I'd like it on Switch. It is the HD remake of a very old game originally made for mobile phones (or something like that, it was not Android or iPhone back then as far as I know).
My favourite game in this genre and one of my all time favourite games is TES 4 Oblivion, I hope they will remake it, I hope Skyrim is selling enough to convince them.
On the other hand I don't like fallout so I don't care if they port it or not (some people argued about it when Skyrim was announced)
I'd like to try Pillars of Eternity on Switch with the gamepad. I'd like to have a way on Switch to use custom portraits in those games like you can do on pc

@LuckyLand I never heard of The Quest before, so I had to look it up. It looks very old school and the hand drawn art style is pretty but the first-person viewpoint is a big turnoff for me though.
But hey, if you want it on Switch, I hope your wishes will one day be fulfilled.
@HappyAxiom I really hate first person games, probably more than you do (this is one of the main reasons why I play a lot more Skyrim than Oblivion even if I prefer Oblivion), but in that case it was worth it. And to tell the truth this is less a turnoff for me in rpg games than in different kind of games because often you have to define a character or party and you see his/their portraits and that help me feeling the presence of another character other than myself.
On the other hand one of the worst problems of The Quest is that the walking animations, expecially when you walk through forests, can be very harsh for the eyes. Some trees and other things like that are placed right in the middle of a path you can walk and it made my eyes hurt to navigate through some environments because of that sometimes.

Um...
Btw, i just curious.
Is there any Kids friendly Western RPG games ?
Rated E10+, Not Teen.
And Absolutely I will NOT Looking for rated 18+ games.
And one question, is Portal Knights categorized as Western RPG ? (Rated E10+)
@Anti-Matter
Western RPGs are generally known for their mature themes and content.
Portal Knights isn't considered a WRPG and neither are Bastion and Pyre to my knowledge.
@Anti-Matter If "Bastion" and "Pyre" by Supergiant Games are counted as WRPG, those two are E10.
I had find out about those games and....
Unfortunatelly both of them are Not for me.
Here are my comments:
Bastion = Nope. Digital only ? Nah. Not on Switch ? No Buy.
Pyre = Definetely No. When i saw the first image from Pyre, my reaction was quickly said "No !". I don't like at all the character design and the game looking.
@HappyAxiom
Ah... i see.
Well, i will stay at Cute JRPG games on Nintendo Switch.
I was expecting something like Portal Knights, Re:Legend, Fantasy Life, any cute JRPG.
@Farmboy74
Ya, it looks slick. It's got mid-tier AA production values so it looks gorgeous. And it's actually a little different than most others of the genre, including not having classes and does have the ability to jump.
I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. Then again, most people aren't even talking about Pillars of Eternity 2, and that was earth shattering. I certainly hope the Fanbase takes to these games, because I would really love to see a market emerge for this genre.

I agree. Let's hope this thread helps making the genre more popular with Switch owners.
If there was any Western RPG I would want on Switch, its Mass Effect! Really hoping EA does its usual lazy attitude and just brings over easy remasters, because I'd prefer that over any of their modern games
I even had Mass Effect 3 on Wii U, man that was a waste of money since trilogy came out on pc same time...
Although from your list, it seems you want more of traditional RPG's like Diablo instead of the ones I enjoy, more power to ya but wouldn't it be cool to have Fallout New Vegas and Mass Effect on the go? In general though I feel as if the sales potential for these games are not terrific on Switch. Skyrim was pretty much the sole exception, but all we know is that it sold "pretty well".
Out of the games coming, Pillars of Eternity II is the only one I am 100% buying.
People might think I'm childish for my picture, and I am.
Favorite games: Super Mario Odyssey, Super Metroid, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Sonic Generations
If you like Kirby, then you are a person I can trust.
Having played Diablo 3 on the PS4, I'd say the ability to jump, and to add stuff to your weapons Witcher style, will make Victor Vran standout from the crowd
@ieatdragonz
I'm not that big a fan of Fallout and Mass Effect, but they would indeed be great to have on Nintendo Switch for those that love them, like yourself.
@Farmboy74
Yeah, it looks pretty good. Will be interesting to see how well it will do sales wise. It's going up against Titan Quest, which is a lot more well known. And if the rumors about Diablo 3 are true, I don't think it stands a chance.
Pillars of the Earth II is the one I'm most excited about. However... Kotaku did an interview with the guy behind Divinity II and he was ridiculously coy when asked about it coming to Switch. You'd think he'd just say no, but he just flat out ducked the question - several times. Gives me hope!
