@subpopz They felt that way back with the Dreamcast if you look up what they did there.

And if I don't have a choice, I'll go in the bushes.

The Switch can certainly do without the cancerous schemes of EA and Activision

@shaneoh Activision dropped Skylanders on launch day with missing modes at full price and I dont think they have ever mentioned the system since. I think that ship sailed.

@Anti-Matter Wii was such a phenomenal sales platform, akin to mobile before it existed, that ea just couldn't ignore the audience, even if they preferred that Nintendo had not been successful. Same for ds. Switch will potentially be similar though. But most ea games for those platforms were shovelware. Really most things from ea are shovel Ware. Some just look prettier.

They've dropped MOST of their franchises in favor of their subscription and micro trans business online...

Well it is worth noting NO home console has ever succeeded without EA support. While Nintendo switch has started off pretty well, Montego would be far better off with EA support than without it.

And you too can win a game for $59.99 plus the EA tax and the character tax and the lootbox tax and the costume tax and the bad PR tax and the... you know what, just cough up $159.99 to win

Actually now I think about it, after dropping that Skylanders port on launch day has Activision even mentioned anything about our little hybrid tablet?

@YummyHappyPills
Have you heard of their patent that puts less skilled players in with veterans in order to encourage in-game purchases? Just because Activision isn't looking at the Switch now, doesn't mean they won't in the future.

FIFA, Sims, Battlefront, UFC 3... microtransactions, loot boxes, and pay to win... these are not games, they are pathetic excuses to empty your wallet. Gambling has no place in video games, and loot boxes are a gamble, you don’t know what you are getting. They should be outright banned in all games. EA and others should be forced to remove them from all their games, or be forced to pay for a gambling license, have warning labels, change the game to R rated, and display the odds for winning. We have to keep EA in check now or the gaming industry will turn to poop. EA for life, I’m never buying any of their games ever again, and neither should you. 2K is just as bad with VC in NBA.

LOL, No!. Activision is also crucial. Can you imagine the popularity of a good Switch version of COD, Destiny or Overwatch?

Can you imagine having to pay to have a decent chance of winning? But then chances are that you'll win because the game will pit you against noobs. Lol, No! indeed.

Hey, didn't you realize you had insulted The Sims series, my Beloved games from EA ?!
I LOVE The Sims series !

I really wanted a "The Sims" game on Switch. I have three Sims games on Gamecube and one on Wii, because I really liked the series back then (2003-2006). The spin-off My Sims series was never any good.

It's a shame that "The Sims 4" is infected by microtransactions. It was a quality game once, an EA system seller like FIFA and Need For Speed. I looked forward to a Switch version, and would have payed full price day one like I do with all great games that I know are a 10 or 9 in my book, but now they can keep it.

It sucks that some companies turn to such a low level and ruin perfectly awesome games.

Ooh, i LOVE that adorable Chibi Sims.
But too bad, like you said, the gameplay was Mediocre.
The gameplay of MySims series has a Great potential to be robusted until Nintendo level, but too bad, EA screwed the whole gameplay.

The Sims 3 on PC was the nail in the coffin for the franchise in my eyes. Booting the game for the first time and seeing all those greyed out icons for items that can only be purchased via "microtransactions" completely put me off the game, and I hadn't touched it since. I noticed the franchise going down the toilet halfway through the lifespan of The Sims 2 (beginning with the introduction of stuff packs, which were essentially object sets that were originally intended for inclusion in a regular expansion pack, but were removed and sold separately at a stupidly high price).

They usually boasted "60 items" (LOL), which in reality, was closer to only 30 or so items, with the rest of the "items" being comprised of textures and a few clothing items. I stopped buying the games after the release of Seasons after EA decided to suddenly change the packaging of the games for the Australian market and inexplicably start releasing the European versions of The Sims 2 games in Australia (as opposed to the U.S. versions which we had always gotten up until that point) which caused complications as UK English game data would clash with the existing US English files (resulting in some odd bugs and possible corruption of save data). To this day, whenever I reinstall The Sims 2 games, I manually need to change the registry keys and what not to prevent this issue from occurring (for any expansions that are shipped with a European install shell). A few years later, I did eventually cave and bought the rest of the series at dirt-cheap prices (I only paid $2 for a sealed copy of the IKEA stuff pack), but my days of buying all Sims products on day 1 were long gone.

I recall a single gumball machine item for The Sims 3 costing an idiotically high amount (over $5!). The Sims 2 had a "store" late into its run, which also left a really sour taste in my mouth, because many of those objects had not been included in any of the full expansion packs, and I wanted my game to be as complete as possible, ideally on a tangible disc. It's absolutely ridiculous that EA would launch an online shop for the game in addition to the abundance of expansion and stuff packs that they have been pumping out.

I would still buy The Sims 4 on Switch if it were to be released, but I'm not optimistic that EA would do the franchise justice. I'd much rather have a fully featured port of the first two PC Sims games instead. The early GBA/DS Sims games were also really good, especially Bustin' Out, the GBA version of which is one of my favourite games of all time, and I would love so much for a return to form for the franchise, but as I just said earlier, I'm not optimistic. The brand has been tarnished and perverted to the point of no return and EA have lost a VERY loyal customer in me. I still enjoy playing The Sims and The Sims 2 to this day, and if these are the only Sims games that I play on PC for the rest of my life, then I'm at peace with that, because I can't see EA ever repairing the damage that they've done. Hell, most of the expansion/stuff packs now don't even seem to be released on disc anymore =/

They do see themselves that way.... They've hinted verbally that thought line numerous times. The big thing is their lock on sports as a whole. And they seem to have an alliance with ms to shape the industry in their shared image of games as services. The revolving door of shared management speaks to that as well. And as it proves profitable, others copy it. That said, they may have pushed too far and alerted consumers to be wary this time.

But yeah they firmly believe they sink or swim consoles. As though boom blox made Wii popular....

You could say this about many third parties that publish on successful consoles. EA goes where the people (the money) are. If a console is successful, they'll be on it.
I shudder to think of EA viewing themselves this way - that a consoles success hinges on them and them alone. Maybe they do and that's why they're the way they are now.

@Anti-Matter if you love games that are not fun and are simply there as an excuse to put in microtransactions... then go buy a PS4 or Xbone.

I wish everybody would hate this company as much as me and everyone else who refuses to give them a dime and they would go under so someone else can take their place.

@MrDarkmark Because it's a bit ironic for someone, who's always clamouring to outright ban certain games based on their franchise, genre, age rating or anything else he doesn't like, to come out and say ''If you don't like it, don't buy it''.
