Topic: Wargroove

(I can't believe there wasn't a thread for this!)

Wargroove, looking like the secret love child from the Game Boy Advance versions of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars! I've followed this game for a long time and as soon as I saw it was finally confirmed, I pre-purchased it straight away!

Advance Wars was the reason I got a Game Boy Advance when I was a kid. Yes there were other games I liked, but this was the big one!

I dunno which version I'll go with, I heard customization will go even further with Steam's Workshop thing. Always wanted to make an Advance Wars game with my own characters with their own abilities/powers. lol

@Joeynator3000 There will always be more customization via modding on a PC, no doubt. But I am not willing to trade the convenience of the Switch for that.

I may get both versions at some point, at least the editor isn't exclusive to Steam like a lot of other multi-plat games. lol

@Joeynator3000 To a degree I can understand a lot of editors being on PC only, just because some of the ones out there really need a full keyboard and mouse. In a game like this though, it would have been quite the unnecessary exclusion, if they had excluded it. Although if the cut-scene editor allows completely custom dialogue... Does the Switch support USB keyboards? I hope so.

Anyways yeah, when it comes to Steam workshop stuff, I meant that never makes it to console games. Kinda makes sense why, but...eh...it still would be nice to have custom images and music and all that. lol

(I enjoyed making custom maps in one of the older Worms games, lol)

are the units in this game like fire emblems more "important" units(them being named and if they die they are permanently dead) or are they like advance wars where all the units are expendable and infinitly respawnable

....From what I can tell from the videos....a little bit of both?

@ReaderRagfihs Good to know. If I decide to make an in-depth campaign at some point, I sure as heck am gonna want a keyboard to type out the cut scenes.

@TheDonutGamer It seems as though you have a commander unit that, if they are killed you lose, but the regular units are like Advance Wars, and you can throw them to the wolves guilt free. lol

And in this game, I believe you can literally throw them to the wolves. Or dogs at least. That seems to be a type of unit.

Wargroove got an update today, of course you can't play it yet though.

@Heavyarms55 I am also so excited for this game! The Advance Wars series is my favorite of all time and a friend and I still play hot seat games every time we get together. I still hold out hope that Intelligent Systems will make a proper new Advance Wars game someday, but I really believe Wargroove will scratch that itch in the meantime. I preordered on the Switch as soon as I found out it was available. I look forward to trying the campaign editor, and I hope I can give it the time it deserves. We all should get some matches going when it comes out!

@Kanbei Same here. I did preorder Breath of the Wild for Wii U several E3s ago because of a 30% off amazon sale, which I eventually got years later haha

Turns out Wargroove has crossplay between PC, Switch and XB1. Sony being Sony again.

@Grumblevolcano I was so happy to see there was crossplay. Hopefully it gives the game a longer life online, and we will have an easier time finding matches.

I really hope cross play becomes the norm with multiplats as time goes on. Shame Sony isn’t bothered though.
