I am trying to use my Turtle Beach Wii U branded headset for voice chat in Fortnite with no luck and am trying to troubleshoot the problem. From what I have read I should be able to simply plug the headset in and voice chat should 'just work'.
I do not head the sound of my own voice through the speakers. I have also never heard any voice from any other players.
Do you normally only hear voice of people in your party? For example in I play squads and connect with randoms, should I be hearing their voices if they are using a headset?
I have checked the settings to make sure voice chat is enabled.
I have tried powering down the switch and restarting everything.
I have plugged the headset into another device and confirmed that everything works.
Any help is appreciated.
I think you can only hear people in your party. Voice chat works fine for me but I sometimes need to unplug the headset and plug it in again for it to work, no idea why. Try doing that until tou see the speaker next to your name react to when you speak.

They are the NLa headset, got them years ago from EB games when they had them on sale for almost nothing. I don’t think they are being sold anymore, however I think there are plenty of compatable headsets around.
What's weird is I've tried several different headsets and get no audio. Friend I was attempting to play with had the same issue? Rest of the game is fine.

And yes it works when docked!
That's what I am trying to find out. So I emailed Turtle Beach about the Headset.
boyhittscar yeah it is really frustrating which is why I started this thread, as I said above not long after I posted I launched the game and it suddenly was working, even though I hadn't done anything different.
I put it down to the game probably still having bugs to work out?
Note that if the game is picking up sound from the mic you should see a little symbol appear next to the speaker symbol by your name when you speak or make noise. I never saw that until one time I suddenly did!

Pretty much the opposite has happened to me. Voice chat was working just fine until about 24 hours ago. Now I can no longer hear anyone and the speaker symbol doesn't move to indicate that they're talking even though I know they are. Nothing I do will fix it so it's pretty annoying. Hopefully it either fixes itself like it did for you or Epic fix the issue sometime soon but not holding my breath.
I'm experiencing the same issue, randomly after a few matches my voice chat went out completely. It's been a few days now with several attempts to restablish the connection but nothing works. I've went through my settings in both fortnite and the switch to no prevail. I'm hoping epic fixes this soon, I was basically teased with working voice chat just to have it randomly taken.
Last I checked in the Epic forums, I saw no mention of issues or fixes for this currently, so hopefully it's being fixed. I've not had voice work at all, I don't even see the speaker doing anything when I talk.
Can anyone who had it working confirm that before any players join your party, you can see yourself talking? I ask as I can't always test with party members.
Mine has never worked and I've tried three separate headsets. Either it's something wrong with fortnite, my switch, or I need to buy s $50 headset just to get it to work. x_x
I had the exact same problem, played a few matches with a friend and was able to voice chat and then it stopped working, bought a new headset and still won’t work, checked both switch and fortnite setting and nothing. After seeing this hopefully it’s just bugs needing fixing @Dustinosplays
I created an account specifically to say I'm having the same issue. Voice chat has never worked for me. I've tried three different headsets, all verified to be working on other devices, but I can't get chat audio at all in Fortnite. It's super frustrating.
I'm having the same issue. My voice chat worked fine for a few days and then it stopped working while ingame. I can still hear and speak to people while in the lobby but can't while in-game.
I'm having the same issue, I'm using the turtle beach xo one headset which turtle beach say has switch combatability but nothing will go through. I've restarted the game and console multiple times since it's release, I've turned the setting off and on multiple times but it just won't work, I've tried contacting epic about it but they just linked me to an unrelated forum. Has anyone got any other ideas on how to get it to work?
I have an earbud set that came bundled with my phone. It has 3 lines so there must be a mic input but when I plug it in while on the Fortnite lobby nothing happens - the little speaker icon atop my character remains the same.
