Topic: Transfer question

I finished BOTW on my Wii U, but I'm letting someone else use the console and now I want to play the DLC. I'm fine buying the game again for the Switch, but I know I'm not able to transfer a saved game from my Wii U to the Switch and so I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get a completed BOTW and play just the new DLC on my Switch. I'm pretty sure I'm SOL, but figured I'd at least ask the Forum. One thing I thought of doing was asking a friend to transfer his saved game to my Switch, however, if he does that am I right that he would completely lose the save? If so, I don't think that's an option. Anyone have any ideas?

You can't transfer save data.

@DTMOF84 my understanding is that with 4.0 you can now transfer save data between Switches.

@Skoman you might be right then. I forgot about that. I wish you could back up saves though.

Unfortunately it's an all-or-nothing deal. You can't transfer individual games.

He is right, you do the transfer by transferring the whole account from one system to another.

Nintendo should allow transfers of save data from the U to the Switch. There's no downside for them since you will still need to own the Switch version of the game and the upside is that some people may buy both versions. Of course I have no idea how technically difficult this may be and if it's not something easy then I can understand why it's not offered.
