@PAHTK I agree the European prices seem unfair but that's more to do with our weak currencies than the devs being greedy. All my purchases so far have been in the US Eshop and its saved me a fair bit. If the Pound and Euro recover but prices stay the same as they are now then the savings buying from US Eshop will be even greater.

How do you buy from the US eShop? Can you buy from the Japanese one too?

when you create your Nintendo Account you pick the region(country)

funding it is where it gets more tricky as the funding source needs to be from the same region.

So you have to find an online site that sells eShop codes for the different regions

Interesting.... thanks. This is something I will definitely look into.

Firstly my issue is with pricing. Namco is $30 and £30 which isn't at all fair, Overcooked is $20/£18 which again isn't fair at all (especially as it was confirmed to be £16 and it was £16 on the other consoles at launch)

Except Overcooked is the special edition. The launch is just regular Overcooked, while the Switch version has added DLC to it.

I've never had to pay for tax for a game I've downloaded. That goes for eshop and the PSN store. Not sure if locale has anything to do with it but I live in Virginia.

Do people in the US have to pay tax over the $30 you mentioned? That's why US pricing always confuses me, because they don't include tax. A game can be $59.99, but you end up paying a lot more I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm not used to those weird archaic practices.

My state has no sales tax on anything--digital/internet or brick and mortar--so a 19.99 game is always 19.99.

On the other hand, when I'm in Canada, Ontario charges 13% tax on top of the price, digital or physical, which really sucks for Canadians since the regular price for a game is now 79.99...before tax--needless to say, I don't buy anything when up north...

In the UK we have Value Added Tax factored into the price (hence receipts say including VAT), and its set to 20%.

So for a £50 game, the actual product has a value and 20% of that added on in £50.

Or something. I dunno. VAT is weird
