Man, I hope they port and/or localise Captain Rainbow one of these days. I think Nintendo really missed a golden opportunity there to capitalise on the superhero craze of the 00s.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
I really didn't like the game when it originally released on the DS.
I'm hoping this port of the mobile version will change my perspective.
I look forward to playing this after I'm done with Undertale.

Well after playing for a couple hours one thing is clear. I did not give this game enough of a chance when I originally played it a decade ago. I've enjoyed my time with the game so far. Maybe it was the dual screen aspect I didn't like all those years ago? Not sure. One thing is certain, the soundtrack (especially in the rpg genre) is one-of-a-kind.
I wish that North America would've gotten a collectors edition like Japan got, I would've loved to have a copy of this soundtrack. Mmm, I'll have to look at S-E's online store to see if they offer it separately.

I'm actually impressed with TWEWY. I refuse to use touch controls and fingerprint the screen, so it's highly limited in the play time it will get but I spent some time in tabletop mode, and I have to say I was having a blast with it with the joycon pointer controls. It's finicky, loses calibration a lot, and clicking enemies so my partner attacks is unreliable at best, but it was somehow still very coherent feeling. The vibe and concepts in the game are pretty cool. j
I'm not sure how long the game is and I'm not sure I'll ever see the end since tabletop/tv mode will be a rare treat for me with this game, but it's pretty fun and different feeling, and much better than I expected. Also more simplistic, but still... Ok, some of the music is a little annoying and "remix" doesn't seem to have a noticeable impact.
It's weird, it feels like an Atlus game. Everything about it feels more Devil Survivor than anything Square would do.
The combat system reminds me of Star Ocean The Second Story.

I'm a short way into chapter/day 3 and I'm not really sure what to think of this game so far. The art style and music are fantastic and the story seems cool too, but the battle system feels a bit... aimless? I'm not sure how to describe it but it hasn't really clicked with me yet. It may be that action RPGs are just not for me (I think the only other one I've played is Xenoblade, in which I didn't particularly enjoy the combat either). Did anyone else take a while to click with TWEWY or is it just me?
This question may be a bit premature since the Switch variant is still hot off the presses, but is this version worth it after waiting for a price drop? Or would I be better off tracking down a copy of the DS version?
I was going ask the same question as @Tyranexx as well. Hopefully some of you play both version here. I have played the DS version (my friend's copy) and its awesome for me.
I think the DS version is still superior in term of control. But I have played to 3rd day so far and the control isn't... too bad. I think I'll try to change some of my Pin's layout from what I'm used to in the past, to something that was more tapping than swipe...
I meant control as in during fights, although I wish you can at least move Neku on the overworld or during battle with the joystick. Like... some stuff I really wish it can be also be bound to a button too. Like to open the phone menu :<
But other than some light grievances I don't mind them. Although I can't comment on the docked or tabletop mode since I'm playing purely handheld of course
In my opinion the motion controls make it a lot easier to control Neku's movement, but they make it harder to use some attacks such as ones where you have to swipe the screen
@Super_Gravy Nah, I 99% of the time play in dock mode...I just enjoy the bigger screen. I will on occasion play handheld if the kids are watching their shows.
