Hey folks. Thought it would be nice to talk about "RICO" in here and maybe arrange some parties. I already have a very stupid first question. After running through a few quick matches and quite enjoying it I was wondering, how to improve my level and get new weapons? Do I have to do online matches or whole cases?
Anyone got any ideas? Thx!

I also picked this up and played a few missions solo. I like the game, it feels like a combination of XIII (a first person shooter on Xbox/PS2) and Payday, only better. I don't believe it's on the level of Doom or Wolfenstein II, but it feels like a top-ten game in the genre on Switch. I may or may not get back to it depending on the backlog schedule (the number of rpg games releasing here in 2019 is overwhelming).

Expected more free roaming gameplay. I don’t like the linear kick down door clear room stuff.

Hmm I have to say, I regret buying it. The only progress you can make is in CASES. There you always start in the crappy first training mission with only your handgun. When you die, it's back to the start. A bit like a roguelike. But hey... Still. I don't see myself playing this too much. The mechanics are a bit clunky, which I can forgive and the graphics are adequate, but it gets old really quick.

Maybe playing FPS games for 20+ years has worn me out but I don't even see much appeal in the coop modes in this. Wish I could return digital...

I'm still enjoying this game a bit, though there's definitely some changes that could be made or should be added into the sequel. a multiplayer mode with 1-4 players online or locally, each starting in a different room, all rooms boarded up would be fun. Do you leave your room and try to be the aggressor and go for a slow mo start and surprise? What if you run into someone else already out in the hall? Should you wait and camp the door of your start room? Also, unlocks need to be explained better, and more useful. Cases should allow you to use things you've already unlocked, at least if you beat a case and continue into another case, or something. On that note, they need to tweek the difficulty of the bombs, they havee been the casue of every case loss. In the second to last stages (on easy, mind you) or last stage, EVERY. TIME. There's been a bomb diffusion mission, which is fine to keep the pressure up, but the times are literally impossible. I started one mission, and before I could even choose any door, one was kicked down, bomb timer started at 1:45, FIVE BOMBS. That is already pushing it, but the fact that rooms were locked made it so it didn't matter how good I was. I killed the room quick, ran in, went through 2 more rooms, got 2 more bombs, one more room on this side locked by a computer, had to run out and pray I found the next room with the right computer to unlock it, found a room with just goons, went to another room, found another bombs, no terminal, went to another room, found the terminal, 15 seconds left, kicked open a door, no bomb, through a grenade and ran all the way back to the locked door, kicked it open, saw the bomb, 1 second left. Like, come one, give more time. But playing this with a friend has been a blast, and the only way I can win is us both separating in later missions to make sure we cover more ground, and timing our kicks perfect so we can open 2 rooms at once, but if we mess up, one person is locked out until the other room is cleared. Still, gotten about 15 hours in so far, worth the $20 bucks, I think, but not more. Any of you guys have any single player bomb advice?

Thanks for this guys. I was about to purchase it but I can see it’s not for me. I had higher expectations for this game.

I think this is something for me, even more because of it’s 20 euro price tag!

But, you have to complete cases in 24 real life hours? Or ingame hours? And can you play this game offline in total or are some modes unplayable then?

I think it's just an in game thing, I've continued cases over 24 hours in real life, but beating a case doesn't really award you anything I found out. After that, playing single player cases kinda bored me. I just play the daily cases every day to save up points to decorate guns and wait until my friend comes over so we can play again in couch co-op, which is still amazingly fun. But you don't need the internet to play, outside of getting new daily cases and stuff, so you can play completely offline if that's your cup o' tea.

@Duffthemonkey thanks! I thought completing cases was the main thing to do in this game? Why does it bore you?

Yeah, I thought so too, but it takes a lot to actually beat a case, and in the end, there's no real reward or anything for it, so after playing them a lot, when I learned there was no unlocks or upgrades or anything else, it just kinda disheartened me a bit. It's still fun to play for a bit by yourself though. But doing a whole big case with a friend is really where this game shines. Like, I spent 2 hours on case, got all the way to the end, and died because of a bomb, which always feels cheap, but after all that time and work to get that far, learning that I unlocked or would gain nothing from it just kinda killed it for me (I looked up online what beating cases does after that, to see if you get partial points or other gun unlocks for future run through or something at least, and you get nothing at all from it no matter what). Also, normal and medium mode are like, impossible to beat single player, at least for me.

@Duffthemonkey ah ok! So the game is really difficult, especially the cases? And if you die while doing a case, you have to start over from beginning because of the lack of checkpoints?

Guess it’s worth 15 euro nevertheless? (Got some promotion code)!

Yeah, for the price, I definitely got my moneys worth already in single player alone, and with playing with a friend it's infinitely more worth it. And I dunno, it's hard to call it hard, the difficulty can just get a bit "cheap" in normal and hard. Like, in the first case, you kick down a door, and by the time you turn to even see who's shooting you, you can be down to like, 50% health sometimes, the bullets just hurt so much exponentially more haha. I guess maybe I just need to get good. But the biggest real complaint in cases is those damn bombs, you get such a short amount of time to diffuse them on easy mode alone, I've never even gotten to a bomb stage on normal yet, if you get the game and figure out any good tips or tricks, definitely lemme know!

@Duffthemonkey i’m pretty sure i’m going to buy this game this weekend! Is it possible to play with random online guys?

Maybe we can play sometimes?

Timbox

Duffthemonkey

Sounds cool! And I know there's a way to play online, I think there's a stranger random set up and a friend set up, I've never used either way yet to tell you how reliable the random set ups are though

@Duffthemonkey Cool, will do! I'll give you a reply here when I've got the game
