I mean I wasn't a big fan of the Wii U ports but they at least made some sense due to the Wii U being somewhat of a failure. Thing is when I start to see people begging for 3DS ports it's made me realize how this has really gone too far. The 3DS was a highly successful console and it is even more portable than the Switch. It seems like some people will never be satisfied, like they need to have every singe game from every singe Nintendo console on it. It's like people are getting complacent with having the same old games all the time and they are no longer even asking for new games.
Well, I'm not really interested in 3DS ports. But for example, I missed out on the ps3/xbox360/WiiU generation, so I'll gladly pick up anything interesting from those systems.
@bixente You should just pickup a PS3 or 360 and get a bunch of games for that. They are super cheap these days and the games are probably hitting their all time low about now, and they are HD consoles. I would probably recommend just getting a PS3 since they tend to be more reliable, but the "slim" 360's were a lot better than the original model. Another thing worth considering is how most of the best 360 titles are available on the Xbox One.
@JayJ Where does buying old consoles for games you want to play stop? It's all well and good, but if I wanted to play Katamari Damacy, Ikaruga, Garou Mark of the Wolves on my Switch, are you suggesting...wait...what are you suggesting? I should go out and buy a PS2, a Dreamcast and a Neo Geo? For the sake of 3 games? Before you know it, you have turned your house into CEX! Give up lol!
Granted. I own some old consoles and games, but man, I would much rather have everything on my Switch were all my fave games are suddenly playable anywhere!
I want 3DS games because I want to play them on the TV, I wished Monster Hunter 4U had an HD version for Switch. Only other thing I'm wanting are GCN games...

Keep it PG-13-ish.
@JayJ Doesn't mean you have to tell people to stop expressing their opinion though . There's a difference between saying you think we don't need any more ports and saying stop asking for ports, you know?
Honestly, I find the complaining about port begging more annoying than the port begging itself. It's only natural for people to want to play games on their preferred systems. Besides, if recent history is any indication, it absolutely seems to work.
While I agree that some requests are a little...erm, out there, I have no issue with Nintendo or other companies porting games to the Switch as long as 1. the ports are done well, and 2. new original games continue to hit the system.
Also, keep in mind that the Switch is a better fit for some lifestyles than the classic interpretation of a home console. Some may be more apt to play a few minutes of Skyrim during a commute when they have some free time and may not have time to sit in front of their TV during the rest of the day. It's a little hard to cart around other systems unless you do something like the cumbersome "portable Wii U" backpack idea.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I agree with the OP but only to the extent that the ports/remasters should not be done to fill in for a lack of new development, as seemed to be the case during the first half of this year. And I'd prefer to see older games that would greatly benefit from graphical polishing and modern technology, rather than games from the current decade. Now that Super Mario 64 project in the Unreal engine, that's a worthy remake.
Although a bit off the topic, I also feel a bit slighted as a loyal, day-one supporter of the Wii U to now see so many U games coming out on the Switch with better graphics and additional features. I supported Nintendo in arguably its darkest hour and my reward is that the games I purchased are now available in upgraded form for those who couldn't be bothered. Not livid about it, but I can't help feeling Nintendo didn't do right by the people who supported the Wii U. I'm not saying don't remake the games, but maybe those of us who bought the originals get a few dollars off the Switch port.
Yeah, it just seems ridiculous that we've had three very recent articles on this website about most wanted games, and they're all three just a list of ports.
I get it, the Switch is a really convenient console with its handheld mode. This makes it a highly desirable system to have all of one's favorite games on. This is why I wish Nintendo would just release a comprehensive Virtual Console again. I know they won't, but it becomes painfully obvious how much this is needed with the most recent article on this website which is asking for rereleases of games that should just really be on the VC instead of released for an overkill price of $60.
At this point the ports I'm really looking for are ones of old third party titles like Okami HD, the old Final Fantasy games that were just confirmed in the September Direct, etc. Would love to see some of the old Persona games since I can't really find the money for a Vita right now but want to play Persona 4 Golden.
I don’t find folks wanting ports any different than folks wanting VC again. People wanting to buy SNES games again? Sure, totally acceptable and legitimate. People wanting to play a game from Wii U that they missed out on? NOT ON MY SWITCH. That sums up the attitude all the time around here. 😂

Nah, if you don't like it, you're free to just skip the "port begging" articles and threads. I myself love all of the ports heading to the Switch, whether it's Doom, Skyrim, or the yet to be released Resident Evil titles, playing on the Switch is so awesome.
It's fine if you're not interested in the ports, but many people are. I just find it so much better to ignore what I don't like in gaming and let the people that do enjoy it.
Ports are ok for people that want them as long as they don’t start throwing them at us instead of new games (where is the new 2d mario, looking at you NSMBU port?).
There is potential here for a big company to get lazy and just start pumping out the ports instead of some new content.
Also they never seem to be any cheaper! I know it doesn’t effect me cos generally I don’t buy them but still.
This is a forum for discussing opinions on games, I make no apology for disliking ports.
If you like buying ports good luck to you.

I'm not port begging; I don't care if ports come or not. But if they release good ports of 3DS, WiiU or any other games on Switch, I'll buy them again if they're good enough. More the merrier.
