Topic: The Nintendo Switch? More like the Nintendo Port U.

@Snaplocket I didn't own a Wii U and the message of a system that is selling "old" games for full price doesn't resonate with me. I can buy old games on any machine. Ports are all good, but I bought a new console to play new and original games. There aren't enough at the moment. Drawing comparisons to other consoles that were bad doesn't excuse either.

@Snaplocket What games are you talking about though? The only game that was €60 was The Uncharted Collection, and that was three games in one! Sony can't control whatever a third party decided to price their games at, so that's an unfair comparison if you want to make one.

Bandai Namco could've asked €60 for the Dark Souls remaster, and I would've said it was too much as well. But that's just how I feel. It's €20 on Steam, so €40 for a remaster is an acceptable price I think, €60 is too much.

I'll happily pay $60 for a remaster if it's a two-game or trilogy bundle or if there's a comparable amount of worthwhile content in there like with Skyrim. But... that's the thing, first party Wii U games scream budget limitations, scream rushed development. It's saying "Hey, pay $60 for a 'remaster' that looks like Hyrule Warriors. One that has the UI of Pokken." And they look even less marginally better than 7th gen games coming to PS4, so what justifies them being more expensive?

I'm interested in the other ports, but $240 is a lot of sticker shock for 4-year-old games that aren't names like Mario Kart or Smash.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Dude, we JUST got Smash Bros announced last night.

And yes, Sakurai confirmed on Twitter he's involved with the new game.

Fire Emblem
Super Smash Bros
Bayonetta 3
Yoshi
Metroid Prime 4
Pokemon
Kirby Star Allies
Mario Tennis Aces
Octopath Traveller
No More Heroes

On top of

Zelda Breath of the Wild
ARMS
Splatoon 2
Mario Rabbids
Fire Emblem Warriors
Super Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

We've almost got as many new worthwhile exclusive games released and announced than the Wii U got its entire lifespan

Ports are just a cherry on top and easily doubles the amount of great games.

Unreal when I see people write off entire droves of excellent games simply because once upon a time they existed on another platform. It's nonsense. Even more ridiculous to see people ignore all the new games while complaining about those that aren't

@JaxonH Hear, hear! I'll just throw in Shin Megami Tensei V in there too, because someone ought to.

@Snaplocket I laughed because your comment was laughable. 3D World couldn't load all of an empty field.

And here we see the inevitable fallout of salt and arguments from anything Nintendo does.

So see you all in a few days when we can just get back to enjoying games.

@Snaplocket Think we are on the same page. Arguing that ports are fine as long as there are new and original games forming the backbone of the release schedule. I appreciate that ports aren't taking the place of these games. The price is extortionate, but not my main concern. Not enough new and original games is.

I do have to agree with Haru to a point as my memories of the Wii U are of Amiibo Crossing, Wii Sports Club, Mario Tennis & Mario Party 10 which felt bare bones. Small but brilliant gems like Nes Remix, Captain Toad, Star Fox Guard, Mario Maker & the overload of 2D platformers outweighing big spectacle games like BOTW, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Super Mario 3D World.

@JaxonH How can you even justify the list below. We know they're coming as it would be strange if they weren't. Just like all the mic-drop comments about Smash. It was obviously coming out at some point. Problem is, the wait is real.

Fire Emblem - Not one screenshot
Super Smash Bros - Not one screenshot
Bayonetta 3 - Not one screenshot
Yoshi - Yes
Metroid Prime 4 - Not one screenshot
Pokémon - Not one screenshot
Kirby Star Allies - Yes
Mario Tennis Aces - Yes
Octopath Traveller - Yes
No More Heroes - Yes (unfortunately the game looks naff)

@Shellcore
What does "It was obviously coming" have to do with anything?

That's a faulty line of reasoning if I've ever heard.

And despite "not one screenshot" Fire Emblem is still coming THIS YEAR.

Not even sure what having screenshots has to do with anything anyways. You're complaining about not enough new games announced? Yet we've got a dozen-long list of... you guessed it, new exclusive games that are coming.

@WebHead Surprised it took you a year.

At this point my advice is thus - If you had a Wii U, this system likely wont hold you.

If you have a PS4 or Xbox One, this system likely wont hold you.

If you are expecting day and date third party releases, that wont happen until Nintendo makes a comparable console AND manages to not have a single faltering system for a few generations yet.

I propose anyone making comments like "I don't think Switch is for me" just get out now.

Because you're absolutely right. It's not for you. If we can have a dozen new exclusive games on the way and that warrants complaining... It's most definitely not for you

Best to sell it now, get out and go do something else with your time.

This ain't the Wii U era and nobody needs to beg anyone to keep their Switch. There's gonna be 100 million people who it IS for. They can afford you guys to sell your system, and I don't think anyone here would care or hold it against you

So, if perpetual complaining is all Switch has come to, just take the next step, sell your system and go do something else that makes you happy

@JaxonH Part of my opinion was based off the need for new AND original games. However, the list you gave did have games I was interested in. I cant take games seriously if there isn't a screenshot at least to show their vision for the game. Also, it is hard to figure out when they will be released (in a very loose sense). Most of those games are 2019 earliest. That makes the list weak when making a current year argument. Thoughts?

Yes, sadly, the Switch is just continuing its reputation as a Wii U port machine.

Hopefully the Super Smash Bros. is a new game. That's the very least that Nintendo can do at this point. If during E3 they can show that Super Smash Bros is a new game, along with actually showing Pokemon, Metroid Prime 4, Fire Emblem, and some titles like Animal Crossing, then the Switch can finally start turning around... But it's a long road of ports to get there.

I need sleep

Wii U is failing - Complaining
Switch is succeeding - Complaining

Wii U isn't getting ports - Complaining
Switch is getting ports - Complaining

I'm off to bed. People need to pick a side at this point. More games are more games and the world doesn't revolve around what only 13.56m people bought.

Like look, I knew that Pokémon, Bayonetta, anything 2019, etc wasn’t going to be present. By what about yoshi or fire emblem or this pikmin game shigeru keeps mentioning? And where is wolf 2 that’s supposed to be out soon? Sorry but $60 ports don’t interest me or cg teasers when gameplay is clearly ready.
