What do you all think about Nintendo making a new Tetris Attack? I'm a huge fan of the series and vastly preferred it over Tetris and Puyo Puyo. I even think a game with all three puzzle games would be pretty dope. Thoughts?

The original game, panel de pon, one is being added to the SNES collection that comes with the online subscription so that kinda counts as making Tetris Attack available on Switch.

@ttaylor199184 Well Nintendo can't make a new Tetris Attack as Nintendo doesn't own the rights to the Tetris name. I mean I guess that could make another game like Tetris Attack but it would have to called something different like they did with Pokemon Puzzle League.

Yeah I knew that was the case. It's more of wishful thinking lol. Something new is what I would like to see.

@ttaylor199184 That's really funny cuz last week I had the same thoughts and decided to actually start developing a new game inspired by Tetris Attack lol

It's in really early development, so there's not much to show except for the developing process, but maybe if you have any interest in games like this and want to chat about it (and maybe even give me ideas do develop the game and test it as i'm developing), here's the devlog:

@Slumberjack You develop games? That’s pretty cool!

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

Slumberjack

@BabyYoshi65 I do!! haha
Actually... I'm starting now. I've made a few projects in the past at university (I have a degree in Video Game Development lol) but I never really finished a project properly.

Now with this huge free time that I got with the quarantine I decided to finally come up with a project that I can finish (:

Maybe one day you'll be playing games I made?? This feeling really gets me excited haha

@Slumberjack I know how to code, but not enough to make a whole game. I hope to make a game and share it with the world sometime in my life. Is this one the first one you’ve made?

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

@BabyYoshi65 You should!! Don't be afraid of programming... There are plenty of engines out there that makes it a lot easier. Like Contruct! I use Unity though haha

Well, this is not the first project I'm participating. This is the first project I'm intending to go to the very end and actually polish, balance and all that. I've participated in a few other projects tho... I don't know how many, but probably something around 10 games?

The good thing about making games is that you're always exercising your head. Each game brings completely different problems to solve haha I love it

@Slumberjack I read the devlog. Tell me when the game’s ready!

What do you use to make games?

@BabyYoshi65 I'll let you know! Probably I'll have a decent playable version in the mid of July (:

I use Unity for the engine.
For programming I use Visual Studio as Unity uses C#.
For art I'm currently using a program called Aseprite. If you like to make Pixel Art it can be really good!
Last, for Music I was using a program called Reaper. I'm thinking about trying to make music on Dreams for Ps4 now, we'll see haha

@Slumberjack Is there a way to make a game on Unity for free, or do you pay?

@TheLightSpirit Oh, those kind of games were so good too!
It seems like studios aren't willing to do this kind of games anymore though... Even on the indie community I've seen people flamming others for trying to make those puzzle games, calling them unoriginal. Normally when I see something new it's an android freemium game where you can play for 20 minutes and have to wait or pay to continue... And because of this freemium design the pace of those puzzle games are kinda too slow too. Games like Candy Crush, for me, feels like I'm not actually having any progress by learning how to play. You just gotta put a few minutes and eventually you'll clear a level as it always seems so lucky related =p

Thanks for the welcoming btw! (:
