Topic: Switch Steering Accessory Problem

Hi. Just received my joy con wheels today. The trouble that I’m having is that I can’t steer one the joy con is inserted into the wheel accessory. I’ve made sure that everything is lined up. Has anyone had the same issue? What am I doing wrong?

Tilt controls on in the game?

The Joy-Con does not "detect" the wheel, nor do you need the wheel accessory in order to use the motion capabilities of the Joy-Con in racing/driving games. You will need to set up motion controls, which can be accessed via the +/- buttons (if I recall correctly) whilst customising your vehicle in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Settings will of course vary from game to game, and some racing games may not support motion controls at all.

does your joycon stop working completely once you put it in? like can you use the other buttons normally? do motion controls work fine when you take it out of the wheel? what game are you trying it on, and are motion controls turned on at all?

perhaps you still have an older joycon that had the poor connection when something is blocking the way between it and the switch. if thats the case you'll have to send it in to nintendo to get a repair done.
