Hello, I bought a Nintendo switch lite for my Girlfriend
5 days after, she found out that her "ZR" button was not as sensible as her "ZL" button... When we soft press the "ZR" button the action wont go instantaneously, it takes 1-2 seconds to make the action...
The same wont happen with the "ZL"
We got to the shop where we bought it and they told us that they need to send to nintendo for repair
After almost 1 month without the console, it came back from nintendo, but nintendo report says they found nothing wrong with the switch... waiting now again for another run on nintendo...
In short: we bought a switch, a pile of games and some accessories and after one month she enjoyed almost nothing of that!
Just sharing how my experience with nintendo switch is going...

After you got it back did you test it to determine if the problem was still happening?

@ALinkttPresent Yes i did, we tested with Zelda and the problem was still there...
The shop where i bought it send it to Nintendo again because i refused to pick it up, the manager said they cant do anything just keep sending to Nintendo...

@Parkouri Surprised the store wouldn't let you exchange yours for an new one, if you just bought it. That stinks. I wouldn't buy another console from that store in the future -you probably had the same thought.

If you're playing docked maybe you're too far away from the console?

I had the same problem when I played at a friends house.
When I moved closer to the console the right Joycon started to work properly again.

@SKTTR valid issue with the regular Switch & with wireless controllers, but @Parkouri has a Switch Lite. I started typing to bolster your point, and at the last second I realized they've got a Lite.

Yeah if I knew it now I would go for the "regular switch"...
If I press the ZR hard enought it works as expected but if I play normally the button works only 70% of the time

@Parkouri I think you just got one with a defect. That still sucks, though. With all the Nintendo news I consume, I haven't heard of button issues like you're having, so I don't think it's a widespread issue. If you do talk to nintendo, I'd say, it was defective from day one, tell them it didn't get fixed the first time, and ask if you can exchange it. Or, say you want your money back. (you can use that to buy a new one)

I dont know what the store is like that you bought from, but, you could also ask to speak to management, tell them it was defective day one, can you exchange it for another console. If you didn't try that yet, a manager is more motivated & has more power to help solve your situation, than a regular employee. Or, you can say you want your money back Saying you want your money back might make them more willing to give you a new one.

Those are the things I would consider, if I was in your shoes.

From my experience with the Switch Lite I have had no button issues so far I got mine on the 21st of December 2019. I think the issues are limited to a few units and wide spread around the world.

Here's the thing since we have no idea whom they bought it from and how it was determined or if they had the receipt that is probably why they didn't exchange it. Most places require a receipt to exchange defective merchandise. Something about this is off. Especially if you had the Receipt they would have to honor it if it was defective also the place would also test to determine the problem as well and NIN indicate there was no hardware issue.

@Parkouri It sounds as though the Switch Lite has been dropped and it landed on the button. Strange that Nintendo said they found nothing wrong though. Are you absolutely certain the problem is specific to the console and not a software bug? Have you tested it with other games?

I've never worked on a Switch Lite, but I have taken apart and rebuilt regular Switch Joycon, it may be that the spring behind the button is partly knocked out of place, or there is a loose ribbon cable.

@Woomy_NNYes We did talk to the manager, ended up filling a complain on the book...
No refunds, no exchange i can only send it to Nintendo...
Now waiting for it to return... if they solve it, then awesome... If not i will let my gf decide, just keep it as it is or go directly to Nintendo
And yes, @SwitchForce we had the receipt, and why they didn't honor it? the manager said that the return conditions are that the product must be sealed... well i got to open it to see that it was defective... the only thing that they could do was send it to Nintendo (because the shop wont repair themselves) and it was up to Nintendo to repair or exchange it...
Btw, the shop in question is FNAC
@Heavyarms55 I would open it up but it is on warranty and i don't want to lose it... the switch was not dropped (well i didn't drop or saw my gf drop it) we tested on zelda and pokemon... same problem the report sent from Nintendo said that no problems were found and they did a factory reset and updated the console... Not sure couse on the shop we created a dummy profile, so we can show the defect to the store rep... when we got to pick up the first time the profile was still there...

@Parkouri Sorry to hear about your Switch having an issue like this. It seems that the manager is quoting the incorrect returns policy. A return due to changing your mind usually needs to be in a sealed or unused condition but there's a separate section of EU consumer law that covers item defects. In terms of the order of remedies, you are firstly entitled to a repair or replacement. If neither can be provided then you are legally entitled to a full refund.

Here's a link to more info on the exact piece of legislation that you are covered by: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guar...

I've had similar issues in the past where a store manager tries to worm out of any action and pushing back to the manufacturer. Usually, quoting the specific laws to them shuts them up and gets them to actually give you real redress. It's a crappy situation but the law is on your side. Best of luck with it all and I hope it gets sorted for you soon.

The switch controller buttons are not pressure sensitive. That is strange.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.
