Topic: Switch over PS4 Pro

Hey Everyone,

So the point of this post is this: I personally have a PS4 Pro, traded my Xbox One cause they exclusives are awful IMO.

I play both. I know we all sometimes get suckered in Switch-ports because we want our collection to grow.

What game for you right now, did you pick for Switch instead of the “elite” version”?

Me: Darksiders Genesis! It’s so good. I put in 20hrs in a few days. The isometric camera, like my Diablo is perfect for Switch. I don’t care that the load time is longer. I’m going to beat it tomorrow. Only 2 chapters left, then end-game for Core level ups. 😀

I usually only pick Switch version for games I just want to play like, 30 minutes to 1 hour and drop it again. Or games that I know can be something I'll constantly want to play like roguelites. (Since I don't have PS4 Pro, this is just comparing to PC)

Fair enough. 👍🏻 @darkfenrir

Depend on the games.
There are 3 different scenarios when i choose the game version.

1. I will choose Switch version if i think the games are best on handheld mode such as 2D platformer, Cooking Mama style, Overcooked, the games that looks exactly same as PS4 version. Or when the Switch version is more complete than PS4 version (Overcooked 1, World of Final Fantasy Maxima). Also, when the games have physical only on Switch version such as Poi Explorer Edition, Earthlock, Evoland Legendary Edition.

2. If the games are really great enough, i will consider Double Dip (Buy both PS4 and Switch version). The games i consider Double dip are the games i played first in Switch version then i want the PS4 version just for secondary purpose. For example FF XII TZA, FF X/X-2 HD, LEGO CITY Undercover, Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles, etc.

3. If the PS4 version is far superior than Switch version due to half baked port / have some issues on Switch version (for example Portal Knights, My Time at Portia, The Unicorn Princess, etc) i will consider the PS4 version. Also, if the games have physical in PS4 version (Deiland, Autobahn Police Simulator 2, etc)

Well said. We’re respectively a little different, but all gamers are. I have two young kids so I need more variety on Switch instead of my PS4 because I don’t get the big TV as much until later at night. I also don’t “complain” (not saying you) or notice problems with pretty much every Switch port. Example: I love Saints Row The Third on my Switch and that got hammered from people. I think a lot of people are insane to think some games will run identical to PS4/Xbox One. I don’t have any gripes with LEGO City Undercover on Switch either. A little longer load screens but other then that it’s fine for me personally.

If it was 7-10 years ago and I wasn’t married with two munchkins I’d still be how I was. Similar to you with how I picked games. I would analyze everything. My friend and I would review games in every detail for dumb fun. We almost made a YouTube channel. 😂 @Anti-Matter

But for LEGO CITY Undercover case, i will Triple Dip (Wii U, Switch and PS4) since they have some differences on each version.
Both Wii U and Switch version still keep the Mario contents (Mario hat, Green pipe, Cheep Cheep, Invincible Star, ? boxes) while the PS4 / Xbox One / PC cannot get the Mario contents since those contents belong to Nintendo (Those stuffs replaced by generic things that looks similar).

I have the modern holy Trinity of consoles and each one has its strong points and I have double dipped on some games like:

1. Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
2. Fallout 4
3. Assassin's Creed Odyssey
4. Darksiders

Magician

Switch version is preferred whenever possible. I also have never hesitated double-dipping for a Switch copy of a game I already own on PS4 simply because of the Switch's portability. The only exceptions are the online-only multiplayer games (Dauntless, Warframe, Trove, etc). Because Nintendo does everything in their power to dissuade people from communicating with each other on the Switch.

The Nintendo DS had voice chat but the Switch doesn't?

Simply mind boggling.

Nice. Try Genesis if you haven’t yet. Freaking amazing. I just beat it today but there’s TONS of replay value. I’m shy of 20hrs in. @Zuljaras

@CTmatic I always choose the Switch version over the PS4 version, even though I have both platforms. In my opinion the Switch version is easily the definitive version of the game because of the hybrid nature of the Switch, which is something I make regularly use of.

Going back to playing PC or PS4 games always feels like a downgrade. Like going back to using a landline phone on a wire after becoming used to walking around talking on a cell phone.

Haha. Yeah I hear ya. I don’t feel my PS4 Pro is a downgrade but I get what you’re saying. @Heavyarms55

These must be considered
Here's comparing Apples to Oranges. Both are good Gaming system. But if you are on the go the PS4 will not be the one to pick. And the Switch unless they get a update like Witcher 3 to update graphics can can also be a concern.
What's probably happening
But as of now seems like Developers whom are getting smarter are now making for all platforms if they can budget doing so. But seems like the goto is now the Switch as that is a selling point now. Sure you can wait for the PS5 but if your games aren't true 4K or upscaled 4K as doing True requires a 1080Ti or 2080Ti as SLI or single is the only way to experience True 4K gaming. So don't let xbox/psx say they are 4K they can't give true but only upscaled 4K which defeats the purpose. But not all games are on all system as well but that is changing expect those like Nintendo Zelda/Mario franchise those will remain Nintendo. Those are cash cows for them. So if anyone tells you their console does 4K that is a load of BS only a computer Desktop Gaming Rig or Laptop Gaming Rig can do 4K and maintain it.

@Heavyarms55 The bad is you become a Couch potato with xbox/psx as your in one spot playing and can't move around or Docked at a Hotel or another friends home to game. That is the downside of Coffee Table based Consoles your limited to where you can game and lugging psx/xbox isn't a small task either. I like to pull out the Switch and start gaming not having to find where can I find a power outlet and then a monitor/TV to hookup to play. That is why the Switch is doing so well it's all in one package even if graphics isn't to snuff or enough.

I spend at lot of time in and out of hospital. The switch is a godsend for me. Dip in and out when I’m not suffering. Easy mobility and storage. Quids in. Win win.

Don't forget we still have registered NintenDoomed fandom on here posing as Nintendo Life users-which is a oxymoron to their view point.

I pick switch for everything I can EXCEPT for certain fps games on PC.

@SwitchForce I don't think the Switch's portability is gonna do anything for us couch potatoes. There's not much difference between sitting on the couch playing a game vs sitting on the porch playing a game or sitting in the park playing a game. lol

If it's a current gen release (like DQXI) I'll go with the PS4 version, however if it's a previous gen remaster (FFX, Onimusha, Katamari Damacy, etc.) I'll grab it on Switch.

Doing that, alongside each consoles exclusives, ensures I'll have something to play on both systems at any given time.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

@Heavyarms55 no but it forces you to get or go places and still be able to play. That is still moving my fat butt around either way. Or play RingFit that would really burn that butt off.
