I will be getting the new 1.1 switch for Christmas. I have a list of stuff I want get along with it, does this look like a good choice for someone who wants to use it as a handheld console, I know a lite might be a better option, but I do like the extra screen size and better battery.

SoundMagic E10 headphones
128gb SD card - bought in sales a few months ago. Is that still a good size?
Orzly screen protector
Orzly hard carry case - looks good for a tenner.
Zelda breath of the wild - should be a good game to start with.

You shouldn't start with Zelda Breath of the Wild.
Great games sometimes doesn't need the popularity or what peoples played the most.
Just listen to your heart about the best genre for you and you can find the right games to be played.
Browse from Google or playasia to getting know more games that probably more interesting than Zelda Breath of the Wild.

@Bakes0310 Breath of the Wild is one of the best adventures on the Switch. It is very satisfying to explore the world.

It rightfully won Game of the Year award for 2017.

It is big and vast game so it will entertain you for many many MANY hours!

@Anti-Matter thanks for the quick reply. I do actually want to play breath of the wild, whether that would be my first switch game or not. I have a huge list of games I want to play but I narrowed it down to 3 games that I would like to wake up on Christmas day and play. That is either Zelda, breath of the wild, Zelda links awakening or Mario odyssey. Can't explain it but it's something christmassy about playing a Mario or Zelda game over Christmas with a new Nintendo console.

I'd definitely start with Breath of the Wild or Odyssey if I were you. Those are two of the best games in recent years! For multiplayer games, I'd suggest an extra set of Joy Cons or a Pro Controller as some games require 2 Joy Cons per person.

Breath of the Wild is absolutely a fantastic choice as a first game. I played it on Wii U first before I had a Switch and then thru again on Switch. Loved it both times.

Looks like you have everything else you need. That SD card will get you by if you don't buy a lot of digital, but even some physical games have large patches and DLC, so it's pretty dependent on what games and what format you buy on whether that will be big enough. Not sure where you live, but if you want a larger SD card, Black Friday sales are coming up soon and would be a good time to nab one cheap.

You can’t go wrong with breath of the wild.
You can’t go wrong with Mario odyssey

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

I do plan on going digital only, but I'm usually rather good with only playing 1-2 games until I finish them, then I uninstall. If I keep to that, should 128gb still be fine?

I think playing a game just for finishing the storyline then delete them immediately after finished is a wrong way to play video games in my opinion. Why don't you keep them forever since the game is NOT really over after storyline. Still there are tons things to do after post game. Be engaged by the games, don't feel like you just want to rent for a while. Even i have finished the games, i will not sell it because i still able to continue and exploring the unfinished business. I have ever felt regret after selling the games before even finished and i will not selling my games anymore.

Bakes0310

@Anti-Matter depends how you interept what I mean finishing the game. I think once I've done everything I want see and do and finish the storyline then that's me done, that's still gonna be a good 100 hours of gameplay. I will keep it forever, I just won't have it installed once I've finished it. Fibre broadband downloads the biggest games in an hour or two so there's no need to keep a game that you won't play take up storage space that you won't touch.

@Bakes0310 Tempered glass is the best screen protector option available. As a bonus, finger prints wipe off them easier too. Film is more likely to get bubbles anyway. Just skip the film.

Breath of the Wild is revolutionary. There's a reason it got stellar reviews. There's a reason there was so much hype. Statistically speaking, it's highly likely you'll love it & think it's amazing.

Keep in mind, you only get about 90% of free space on micro sd cards. That's how all micro sd cards are (can't recall the technical reason). Also, you can always upgrade to a bigger card down the road, if needed. 256gb cards are fairly cheap now, and 400gb cards are getting cheaper and cheaper.

Thanks woomy, sounds like I can't go wrong with a bit of Zelda action.

Since you will go for Zelda Breath of the Wild, would you consider the other additional items such as the BOTW Amiibos, DLC, etc ?

Well, if you really will only have a few games downloaded at a time, @Bakes0310 .... Then the 128 should be fine If you want to check sizes of games you want in Nintendo's eshop, that might help?

Expansion pass sounds good, but the amiboo figures ain't for me at all.

Bakes0310

@Bakes0310 If you are getting BotW digitally, there's currently a 30% off offer. I understand you don't have a Switch as of right now, but if you have a Nintendo account, you can purchase the digital version from the website for £41.99 rather than £49.99. If you buy it on the website now, you should be able to just download it once you have your Switch. This should also apply to the DLC, but I can't confirm that.
Hope this helps!

Not only that but removable Joy-Con and you can get different versions of colors. I would add to this getting a Pro Controller as well.

Read the reviews and if you can go test some of them.

Get a 400gb that will give you some future proof. Price is at good value now.

Make sure it's Temper Glass not the plastic film.

My case is the GripCase so that works for me.

This is a good game to start it uses alot of controls and aiming. This will either frustrate or give you determination to beat the game. And also check out JPRPG games as well.

Breath of the Wild is a perfect games to start off your Switch adventure, it's a game that will entertain for hours. Plenty to see and do, and the world is built for exploration.

For protecting the screen, i'd recommend tempered glass. If you're docking the console, the screen can get scratched. You'd be better off using the above as it's far, far cheaper to replace this than the entire Switch screen if it gets damaged.
