Topic: Super Smash Bros. 4: Definitive Edition?

How would you feel about having a definitive edition of Super Smash Bros. 4 on the NX? It would have all the content from both versions (3DS AND Wii U stages, Smash Run AND Tour) all the character (plus DLC) and stuff like that, or at least that's how I think it would play out.

Would you buy it?

Yeah I'd buy it, and it would be a pretty smart idea as a launch title to move a few systems.

I don't think it should happen, just let backwards compatibility be present and direct people to the Wii U version.

Totally agree with @Grumblevolcano

This is the rut that the PS4 appears to be in. Reselling games just a generation ago. How many times will people purchase Uncharted, God of War, and The Last of Us?

I don't think it's a bad idea, but it should also have at least a few new things as well. Maybe a proper tournament mode, for starters, and a more robust level editor?

You only need one Smash, Mario Kart, Pilotwings, Mario Strikers, Golf, Tennis, F-Zero and Punch Out each generation (sometimes not even that!) because they are gameplay/console gimmick lead games without an A to B narrative. we don't need remakes of these games because a new game in the series essentially is a new remake.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

@MrGawain: Yet Smash 5 wouldn't be ready until the end of the NX's lifespan. It would be the swansong, and possibly a Twilight Princess.

I would only buy it if they included all previous Smash games via Master pieces.

So this "Definitive Edition" should arrive on the Wii U as well?

@IceClimbers: And how did you come to that ludicrous opinion with zero evidence to back it up?

Sooo, you'd be interested in Nintendo pulling the same scheme on us which Capcom (Street Fighter) and Arc System Works (Guilty Gear, BlazBlue) get so much flak for? That deal that is often described as a shameless ripoff strategy for way-too-soon remakes being the only available version on a new console to ensure fans have to buy a slight visual upgrade and a tiny expansion at full retail price?

I'll have to go with no. And by that, I mean HELL NO!

I don't really have an opinion about this. I like the idea of every new system getting a new Smash that plays different but it could help in the early stages of the system or make people think it will just be a re-release machine. Double Edge sword kinda. Darned if they do, Darned if they don't. Nintendo has to deal with a lot of Double Edge Swords lol.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

No. It would also destroy the impact of Smash 5. I'd rather have to wait a year or two for a new Smash, than getting the same game at launch that I already own.

Yeah.... It should happen.

I think it depends on what extras Nintendo would include in a Smash 4 Definitive Edition. If they're just going to put in all the characters and some new mode, then I'd rather have a new Smash 5 altogether. Maybe Nintendo could give MK8 the DE treatment (maybe even throw in HD remasters of previous MK games).
But then again... would there be a Smash 5?

God first.

I think that is the biggest question. If there even is a Smash 5, and if it would be on the NX, is a big part of likeliness of a 4 Definitive Edition.
