@Grumblevolcano That's what I most want out of it. Even just being able to string a series of levels together without a world map would be sufficient for me. I just really hope they let us do more than individual levels.

I just want less limitations on level size, and more sublevels for us to work with. As for a campaign editor/creator, I'd be fine with just having the original world maps to work with instead of making our own. I think Wargroove does this, giving you premade maps for you to use.

I mean I know it's Nintendo so I'm not that optimistic. But still, we're talking about a game that had over a million levels uploaded in the first week and still has a community behind it. For example this video? Uploaded about a month ago, almost 600k views....

A bit of a missed opportunity if that doesn't carry over in some form.

Some good Aussie musics: King Gizzard, Pond, TFS

Hopefully Markiplier does another series for this game, I never got to see him play any of my rage-inducing levels. Gonna re-create some of them in this game. Also, I'm gonna have SOOOOOOO much fun with the snake blocks. xD

Never played the first one due to not bothering with the Wii U, so I'm glad the Switch is finally getting something Mario Maker. And there's going to be so much to play around with, even in addition to the stuff from the original. Slopes, autoscrolling, and 3D World assets really add a lot to this.

I agree that we may be getting more assets from other games. 3D World is such an odd inclusion by itself, I think there may be some other 3D games represented in this game. I would guess Galaxy and Odyssey, those are the two most popular.

Here is everything new in the Super Mario Maker 2 trailer I have found.
Source - Me watching the video really closely and 30 years experience of playing Super Mario games.
I'm not discussing the box art or official artwork on the game's webpage here.

Steep slopes
Gradual slopes
New User interface for selecting things to put on stage
10 coin
Blocks associated with on/off switches as well as the on/off switches themselves
Sliding down slopes
Whirlwind from the Mario 3 Angry Sun Stage
Angry Sun
Block platforms that have programmable movements. Think Super Mario World castles, they exist there.
New ice stage theme
New half filled water stage theme. From SMB3 and SMW
Custom level scrolling. So your level can scroll, not only to the right like in Mario Maker 1. Now you can scroll your level up and diagonally up as well as to the right
Different types of blocks
See through pipes from Mario 3D World
New enemies, some of which come from Mario 3D World. The one shown off was the ant trooper. Also fire bros were shown.
Bell trees from Mario 3D World
Cat suit powerup
Climbing up walls with the cat suit powerup
Piranha plants following a creator programmed path moving across the screen
! blocks that create more blocks when hit
Use of foreground and background to have enemies travel into the screen to hit you
Fences to climb up
Enemy parachutes
Different colour Yoshi's. Not sure if they have their different abilities like in SMW.
New Jungle stage theme.
New boss type enemies. Boom Boom was shown off
New Mario 3D World stage type
Maximum coin count
New sky stage theme
Variable platform length
Red pipes - They might spawn enemies faster and spit them further away from the entrance.
Removed land break after starting point of each level.
Slightly modified how the camera works when Mario is high up.
New sub area manager at the bottom right of the editor screen. (That's what many including myself think that is)
Purple brick block
Stripe of colour about items in the top editor toolbar to represent which category each item belongs to

It's noteworthy that some themes have 3 enemy wheels and some have 4. At least that's what the frist trailer is showing.

I hope it's just a beta. It would be disappointing if you could not transfer everything over from one theme to another with just one click. I want those 3D World enemies in 8 bit

@SKTTR

I think you are right about a beta build as they did cay the game is in development still and more features will be added not shown in the trailer.

Do you remember when the original game was announced? Yeah we barely knew anything aside from it being Super Mario Bros. lol

@Joeynator3000 I don' t remember much, but when I saw the first trailer for Super Mario Maker 1, I jumped out of my seat and knew the Wii U was worth every penny.

Yeah the first trailer was very basic, and I think the demo there didn't give you much either. So, patience. lol

I assume SMM2 is the reason why Nintendo quickly abandoned updates for SMM1.
They have planned it all along, shortly after the release of the original.

Grumblevolcano

@SKTTR I figured it was just a general case of all focus going to Switch, not necessarily because of specific games existing on Switch. Wii U was quite the desert after June 2016.

I think a feature that should be in the game is the ability to make playlists so you can put all your tribute and mystery mushrooms in one area and the traditional levels you make in one.

super Mario Galaxy on the switch make it happen!

For any US people both Walmart and Amazon have preorder pages up showing price of around $55. Amazon is a buck cheaper with the coupon on the page. Not huge but every dollar counts!!

Finally, a good excuse to go Switch Online!

I get more excited for this every day.

Still waiting for Atlus to make Snowboard Kids 3

Grumblevolcano

@BalloonFighter I don't think the online subscription will be needed for sharing your levels and playing other people's levels as you're not directly playing with others online.
