Topic: Super Bomberman R

Does anyone feel like the controls are kind of sloppy? I've been dying a lot from not being able to turn a corner accurately. SNES Super Bomberman is one of my favorites. It had tight control.

Is it possible to play online with other people but alone on the system?

Yes, it can be played alone, local multi, or online multi with strangers or friends.

@Noonch The sticks do feel a little sloppy. The D-Pad (can we call it that on Joycons? is perfectly accurate in SNES style however.)

First time Bomberman player here, so I'm not coming into it with any expectations though.

So how is the online ? alot of people play?

@robotman5 Got it yesterday and played about 5 games online last night.
Had varying amounts of input lag for each game.
Population seems quite healthy only took a few seconds to find a game each time.
Story mode seems alright, but the first boss was way too difficult.

Its okay online, local Multiplayer is excellent though.

(Online is P2P so can get a little laggy)

Do you guys have an hard time getting gems in generally? I feel like I have to be really good in Bomberman R story to get stuffs for multiplayer. I play online but I get owned by gold tier player every time when I was in an baby league. Free battle is even worse!

Hey guys - so it's been over a week or so. Final thoughts on the game? I'll be looking to finish off Zelda within the next week or so, and I'm between Bomberman or I Am Setsuna to be my next purchase. Would you recommend R? The last Bomberman I played has to be back on the N64, so it's been a long time.

Well my purchase is worth it for the local multiplayer. My friend bring their Joy-Con controller and we all connect them to the Switch. We play 8 player battles all the times now. I'm trying to make gems so we can unlock more maps but I have an hard time making gems.

For story mode, you have to beat the levels in order without losing all your lives. If you do lose all your lives then you have to start over in the world. Sometimes its isn't a big deal for gamers in generally but its drive me nuts since its the easily way to make gems. You use gems to buy characters, maps, and hats.

And sorry for double posting but can you earn gems by playing online with your friends only?

Putting cost to one side, it is a decent multiplayer game.

I would wait until it comes down in price. It sounds like while it is a good game the quality value does not exceed the price unlike games like Zelda which do.

From the looks of it I would pay somewhere between £20-£30 for it. But then this isn't my type of game so I can't help much further. But if you do wait you get the game cheaper anyway so it is a win-win!

I have about $20 credit for my local gamestop, so I am thinking of picking this up since that would make it around $29...which I think would be reasonable.

@Grandpa_Pixel One of my biggest frustrations was with the multiplayer. You can only play 4 OR 8 player, which means you must use CPU players if you don't have that amount. The CPUs hog the game and make it not fun.

I bought this game right off the top, but really didn't like it. It's sparse, and if there is fun to be had, it's few and far between. I couldn't stand the voices either... ended up trading it back in, and actually got more for it than I paid for it because they were doing double trade in credit...

I am curious about Setsuna, though I'm not convinced yet...

Fast RMX is great, and cheap. Shovel Knight is quite good. Snipperclips is really awesome. Voez looks interesting ,though I can't tell if it's actually fun or not.

I wouldnt pick bomberman up at all. I own a wii u and a 3ds with lots of games yet to be played. That puts me in a position to be very picky about any switch games.

When it comes to the switch my plan of getting games (confirmed):

Mk8 deluxe
Splatoon 2
Fire emblem warriors (after price drop)
Super mario odyssey
Xenoblade 2
Fire emblem
Dragon quest 11

Other than that I dont see any games that are worthy of purchase. Maybe arms but that remains to be seen. Disgaea 5 could be good as well but I dont think I could get into grinding units up to lv. 9999

This is funny to me, as it'll probably have more content than most of the other games you listed combined. :V

This game is a lot of fun, i just wish that it had a bomberman 64 styled story mode. Ah well, i'm just happy that Bomberman is back.
