Well, I'm happy this series isn't dead.

Konami, you were supposed to continue making pachinko machines! Not a revival of a thought to be dead franchise!

I'm mildly excited for this. It's a full retail game? Awesome! I'm hoping it's a meaty game then and not some Wiiware quality stuff.

New Bomberman game! All is forgiven, Konami! Day 1 purchase!

Well, not really, but this and BotW on release date has me really excited about the Switch now. Maybe I will finally put done Fire Emblem Fates after a year.

I mean, I am in the minority that prefers the more adventurous Bomberman games, but it at least isn't solely about the battle mode. Have some worries (because it's an out of nowhere launch title by Konami) but it looks fun.

@kkslider5552000 To be fair it had to be an out of nowhere launch title as NDA would have meant Konami couldn't say anything before yesterday.

But man I am stoked for this game. This and Zelda is reason enough to buy a Switch day one. So glad I have all that money slowly being saved up, a few quid a week, over the past few months. It'll all go towards the system, games and pro controller.

@FragRed I think the issue is more that Bomberman hasn't seen a proper retail release in about ten years. The last one on home consoles was Bomberman Generation on the GameCube in 2002. There have been a couple of digital-only games and a party game on the Wii, but this game came out of nowhere. Especially since, after Konami bought the IP, they haven't really done anything substantially with the franchise. This is by no means a new Bomberman Generation or Tournament, but in the words of Inafune; ''It's better than nothing''.

@Octane Ah I see. Well for now I'm stoked and I'm hoping that there is real effort put into this game and that the "it's better than nothing" quote doesnt apply. Judging by the official trailer and the fact it has 50 single player/co-op levels including boss battles at least gives me hope.

I still play the PS1 game on a regular basis with mates in multiplayer mode.

@FragRed True, but I've also given up on a ''big'' expansive Bomberman game, so I was glad when I saw this during the livestream. I have no doubt that it'll be great for multiplayer too.

I think this will be hard to find at launch, so I tried to pre order in Game store, not even on there system, so unable to pre order!

@617Sqn Konami publishes the game, not Nintendo, so it's very possible that the pre-orders haven't gone up yet. Give it some time.

Not that it matters but they released Bomberman Jetters on Gamecube after this.

I don't blame you for not knowing this, since Jetters was a worse Generation that had better competition for current GCN games. (Generation competed with Lost Kingdoms and the Spiderman Movie game, Jetters competed with MGS Twin Snakes and FF Crystal Chronicles)

I wonder what motivated Konami to bring out this IP from the chest of dead IP's they have. They don't seem very interested to continue in the videogame business.

@Luna_110 I imagine Nintendo went to Konami and offered cash to make it.

@kkslider5552000 I knew Jetters was a thing, I forgot about it because it never released in Europe. If it did, I'm sure I would've owned a copy.

This highly surprised me, the return of Bomberman. It is a remake though. Personally I would prefer something along the lines of Bomberman hero or Bomberman 64.

Pre-order price seems to be £59.99 for this game.. If those aren't placeholder prices.. Ouch..

This came out of nowhere, I don't think anyone expected to see a full retail Bomberman release. Man, as if Switch wasn't already a cool enough console of itself, playing games like this on the handheld mode while I'm at work (why work when you can get paid to play Bomberman 😉) Heck with the kickstand and Joycons I can prop it up and play nice and proper. System comes with 2 controllers so I can even play with someone else on the spot!
