Topic: Storing Pro Controller

I picked up a second back up XC2 pro controller 3 or 4 months ago. I synced it to make sure the battery wasn't empty then put it away. It was fully charged when I put it away. I was worried about doing so, but a month later it was at 50 percent.

I check on it today after another month and it was unresponsive. Plugged it in and it came on displaying the lowest percentage.

What is the safe way of storing this controller without destroying the battery?

@Trajan Like @DTMOF84 said, make sure nothing presses the buttons. But also make sure that it is stored is a dry location of moderate temperature. Regardless, batteries still drain. It is kinda the nature of modern quick charging/rechargable batteries. I didn't touch my PS4 controller for about 6 months and it only had like 2% left, if that. Just enough to turn on for about 2 minutes.
